ed patients at Huronview, Wed-
nesday evening at a birthday
party. President Mrs. Clarence
Reid opened up the evening's
entertainment and introduced
Mrs. Robert Elsie who took ov-
er for the program. It included
square dance selections by Mrs.
Elsie, Mrs. T. Sherritt, Mrs. W.
Carlile, Mrs. John Corbett, Mrs,
Pearl Koehler, Mrs. Gladys
Coleman, Mrs. E. Willert, Mrs.
Elizabeth Riley. Accompanist
was Mrs. Ross 'Broadfoot. Bag
pipe selections by Tommy Tra-
vers, reading by 'Mrs. E. Riley,
sa.xaphone solos by R. A. Orr,
Miss Greta Laramie at the piano
and community singing led by
Mrs. Carl Payne were also items
on the program. Twenty-four
patients were presented with
attractive birthday gifts. Pro-
gram conveners were Mrs. Elgie
and Miss Laramie; gifts, Mrs.E.
Willert and Mrs. GladysCole-
man; lunch, Mrs. Fred Beer and
Mrs. Beverly Beaton.
PUNERALS
MRS. WILLIAM L. IRELAND
Mrs. William L. Ireland of
Brussels, died in Wingham and
District Hospital, on Friday,
May 31, 1968. She was 79.
Mrs. Ireland was the former
Mary Isabella .Anderson, dau
ter of the late Mr. and s.
Quintin Anderson. She was
born in Morris Township.
Surviving are her husband, a
daughter, Mary, Mrs, Stewart
McCall, Walton and one son,
Janies, Morris Township.
Funeral services were held on
Monday at 2 p.m. from the D.
A. Rann funeral home, Brussels.
Pallbearers were John Yuill,
John Bowman, Walter Kerr, Ar-
chie Moses, Andrew Turnbull
and William Smith. Flowerbear-
ers were two 'grandsons of the
deceased, John and Murray Mc:.
Call. Burial was in Brussels
cemetery.
MRS. RANDOLPH LOWRIE
Mrs. Randolph Lowrie, 69,
-died in Seaforth ' Community
Hospital on Sunday, June 2,
1968, after an illness of five
days.
The former Edna Jane Croz-
ier, she was born and educated
in McKillop Township and mov-
ed with her husband to Sea,
forth- in 1963. Her husband, to
whom she was married in 1940,
predeceased her in 1964.
She is survived by two sisters,
Helen, Mrs. N. J. Currie, Wing --
ham and Vera, Mrs. J. C. McIn-
tosh, Seaforth; and one brother,
'Andrew E Croziess-Seaforth.
The funeral was held on Tues-
day, June 4, at 2 p.m. from the
R. S. Box funeral home. Her
minister, Rev. D. 0. Fry of First
Presbyterian Church officiated.
Pallbearers were Graham
Kerr, Eldon Hulley, Harvey Dol -
mage, Glenn McNichol, Jim
Small and Edward Reid. Flower -
bearers were Bill Dolmade, Jack
Currie, John Hall and David
Watson. Interment was in Mait-
landbank cemetery.

." The er ot this overturned Seaforth Farmers' Co-op
fuel truck, Doug Wallace, barely escaped death after collid-
ing with a Heard Construction gravel truck last week. He was
reported on Wedneaday in serious condition in London Hos-
pital. Firemen were on hand as a safety precaution in the
case of a gas explosion as the truck spilled highly flammable

Representing Seaforth Lions
Club, president Orville G. Oke
and Gordon Tyndall took part
in a district meeting of the On-
tario Society for Crippled Chil-
dren and its associated Easter
, Seal Service Club at Clinton,
Thursday. The district 'includes
Huron, Lambton and Perth.
. The' semi-annual meeting was
attended by members of Service
Club who are actively engaged'
in helping crippled children in
their communities through the
funds that the clubs raise from
their Easter Seal Campaign. The

Sunday Sch-ool were cancelled on
Sunday to the anniversary ser-
vice at Roy's Church.

ed .graduation •excerises at Avon
Theatre Stratford, when a
grand 'daughter, Miss Judith
Wallace of Walton graduated as
a Registered Nurse from Strat-
ford Hospital school of nursing.

Mr. and Mrs.- Irvin Rock, RR
2, Monkton, were delightfully
surprised on Friday evening as
about 50 friends and neighbors
gathered at their home. Progres-
sive euchre was played with
the winners, being: ladies high,
Mrs. Murray Rock; ladies low,
Mrs. Orval Parrott; Men's high,
Alvin Hinz; men's low, Joe Van-
denberk; Mr. Herold Ward spoke
a few words to the couple. Mr.
.Alex Drummond and Mr. Clar-
ence Pfeifer presented Mr. and
Mrs. Rock with a pole lamp.
• The couple were married on
June 3rd, 1943, at the bride's
home, with the late Rev. H.
,Tiebold officiating. The atten-
dants were Mrs. Dalton Stein-
bach, then Mary Rock of RR
1, Mitchell; Mrs. John Foreman,
• then JO Huether of, Sheffield,
and Mr. Norman Eggert of Me-
Killop.
Mrs. Rock was the former Del-
la Eggert, daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. • Eggert of
McKillop. ller husband is the
son of Mrs. Mary Rock of Strat-
ford and the late John Rock.
Their family includes two
daughters and one son Mrs.
Donald Browns Diane, 'RR 2,
Monkton; Karen and Paul at
home, also one granddaughter,
Deborah Lynn Brown.
• On Sunday Mr. and Mrs.. Rock
were host and hostess to tluk
wedding party of 25 years ago
and their families.
On Monday evening the bro-
thers and sisters of Mr. and
Mrs. Rock gathered at their
home. Progressive euchre was
played with the winners being:
ladies' high, Mrs. Della Bider;
low, Mrs. Oscar Rock; men's
high,-4Don Brown and low, Mil-
ton Reck.
Others •atteaing the gather.
Ing were Mr's. Earl Eisler, Mit-
chell and Mrs. Charles Rock,
RR 1, Bornholm.
Society's District Nurses present- \
ed a detailed report on their
duties and responsibilities. Each
Service Club reported on the
assistance they have provided
for the children in their area,
in the past year as well as some
special activities that they have
organized for their entertain-
ment.
Chairman of the meeting, W.
W. Haysom of • the Goderich
Lions Club, thanked the mem-
bers of .the Service Clubs for
coming to the meeting at their
own expense and on their own
time. He said the time, interest
and effort freely given by Ser-
vice Club members could never
be matched by paying for such
sthices. Mr. Haysom made re-
ference to some of the services
provided by the Ontario Society
for Crippled Children in addi-
tion to the work of the Society's
nurses by ,explaining that 'Eas-
ter Seal activities included pro-
viding the opportunity of camp
vacations for crippled children
in five different eamps; travel-
ling clinic teams which visit re-
mote areas of the province twice
a year; research projects that
develop improved • equipment
and study preventive measures;
and the supplying of wheel-
chairs, braces, crutches, -trans-
portation and many other ser-
vices.

Meeting
A large audience greeted Mrs,
W. A. Campbell of 'Guelph 011
Tuesday evening when the Bar-
bara Kirkman Auxiliary held
its regular meeting. Mrs. Camp-
bell showed slides of her trip
to Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong,
Tokyo, New Zealand, Australia
and Hawaii. The pictures show-
ed the advancement and pro-
gress which the Japanese peo-
ple have made in recent years.
The members of the tour were
privileged to see their foster
children in Korea whom they
sponsored ,by paying $16,00 per
month to the Foster Parents
Plan. -
Mrs. Mae Habkirk presided in
the absence of Mrs. Dale Nisei',
Mrs. Mae Dorrauce read the
scripture lesson and Mrs. Ed.
Dorrance led in prayer. Mrs.
James Murray' received' the col-
lection. Mrs. Keith Sharp read
the minutes and Mrs. W. C.
Bennett was in charge of the
projector.
Following the program a so-
cial hour was spent. Guests
were present from other
churches in the district.
