with Easter Lilies was the set-
ting for the UCW April meet-
ing, with president Mrs. Thos,
Brintnell presiding and open-
ing with a poem "An Easter
Wish" followed with the theme
song and prayer.
Mrs. Wm. Brintnell present-
ed the worship service, assisted
by Mrs. Alvin Cole, Mrs. R. Mac-
Donald and Mrs. R. Taylor, Jr.
Several Easter hymns were sung
during the meeting. Mrs. Earl
Kinsman favoured with a read-
ing, "The Meaning of Easter".
Mrs. 11. P. Currie gave the Bible
study. Mrs. A. Ross contributed
a piano solo, "The Holy City".
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spencer
and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hay
have returned from a three-
week vacation at, Treasure Is-
land, Florida, returning home by
the Smokey Mountains.

Hall, Hensall Wednesday, with
Mrs. Grant MacLean as hostess
and Mrs. Dave Triebher as co -
hostess, President Mrs. Grant
MacLean opened with a poem
followed with the opening ex-
ercises. Reports of standing
cornmittees were given by Mrs.
Alex McGregor, Mrs. William
Kyle, Mrs. Robert Kinsman, Mrs.
Ross Sararas, Mrs. Harry Cald-
well and Mrs. Ken McKay.
Mrs. Vern Alderdice gave the
treasurer's report showing a
balance of $635.67, the report
of the directors' meeting held
in'Hensall and also conducted
the election of officers. Mrs.
-Glenn Bell gave the report of
the nominating committee.

Ontario's top corn growers recently took time out for a
holiday in the U.S. The all -expense -free trip represented first
prize in the 1967 5 -region Ontario Grain Corn Competition,
sponsored by the (Plant Food Council of Ontario and the On-
tario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. Winners and
wives leaving Toronto airport for New york are shown left
to right: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allan, Brucefield; Mr. and Mrs.
Carman Boadway, Mount Albert; Mrs. and Mr. Gerard Delrue,
Bearline; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Goble, Waterford; and Mr.

The Easter thank -offering
meeting of First Church WMS
was held in the church hall
with visitors from different

Economics and Health, Mrs.
Grant MacLean, Mrs. Ross Sar-
aras; Sunshine convener, Mrs.
Robert Kinsman; Curator, Mrs.
Alex McGregor; Resolutions,
Mrs, June Cooper; Sewing, Mrs.
Alex McGregor; Pianists, Mrs.
Ross Broadfoot, assistant, Mrs.
John Sinclair; Auditors, Mrs.
Robert Bell, Mrs. Robert Kins-
man.
Mrs. Robert Bell gave a poem
on "A House Cleaning Carol",
dressed for the part and carry-
ing mops, etc. Mrs. Bell also
gave a poem on the life of a
hen then and now.
Mrs. Ken McKay, incoming
president took the chair for the
remainder of the meeting. Mrs,
James Chalmers, Mrs. Dave
Triebner and Mrs. Mike Connol-
ly are to make plans for a bus
trip in June.
Mrs. McKay read a timely
article "Will the meeting come
to order". Mrs. Grant MacLean
read Bill Smilley's account of
his trip to Expo and showed
pictures of the members during
the various activities of the
year 1967-68.
Manny: "Do you know why
a cross-eyed teacher doesn't
make a good instructor?"
Moe: "Certainly. It's because
he doesn't have control of his
pupils."

the leader Mrs. J. McGregor
presiding. The devotional was
, taken by Mrs. Stuart and Miss
M. McQueen. The scripture,
Mark- 16, verses 14, prayer and
,hymns 112 and 105. The offer-
ing prayer and an Easter poem
were read. Mrs. B. Scott read
from the study book a story of
a Japanese girls, her struggle
for an education and how hard
she worked to become a teacher.
The May 15th meeting will be
at Mrs. C. Horton's with Mrs. J.
McGregor assisting and with de-
votions by Mrs. L. Wilson and
Mrs. J. Aikenhead and the study
by Mrs. D. Triebner.

Minister, Francis Coleman, a
poem "The Legend of Violets"

a duet by Mrs. D. 0. Fry and
Mrs. MacGregor "Near to the

Scott.
Mrs Jack Thompson read a
poem "Something Good About
You" and introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. McCarron of Bilis-
sels who took for her topic
"Christ Our Hope" and stressed
that Christ should be lived in
our daily life as well as on
Sunday and not let Christ take
second place.
Miss Jean Snit thanked the
speaker and .'rose whJ took
part., "The Day of Ressurrec-
tion" was sung,
