Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Annie and- Joan Calvin attended the 20th wedding anniversary of her brother and wife, Mrand Mrs. John Templernan and: fam- ily, Saturdaytevening. Mrs. Charles Roney, visited her mnther Florence Williams, in Seaforth Hospital, on Thurs- day. Mrs. Mary Malcolm received word that her brother, Will, is In New Westminster Hospital. • Mr. and S. Ross Gordon and Barry of Seaforth were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Malcolm. Mrs. Lorne McKinnon was hostess for the Zion U.C.W. meeting held in the school on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. Jas. Stratton presided for the program which' was prepared by Mrs. Dalton Smale and Ma. Stratton. Easter` Hymns were sung and the Easter scripture lesson was read by Mrs. R. S. Aikens. Readings by Mrs. Ross Pepper and Mrs. Lawrence Bar- ker were enjoyed. A record on Japan added important facts to the study of that country. The business was taken by the pres- ident, Mrs. Lloyd Barker. The ladies quilted during the after- noon. World' Day of Prayer The ladies of Brodhagen Lu- theran Church, McKillop Unit- ed Church, Bethesda United Church and Zion United Church held their World Day of Prayer service in Zion Unit- ed Church with Mrs. Lloyd BPricer Wing t�Ilervice• Kr% I-4aWrence Barker read the scripture lesson. One Anothers Burdens" was given by the speaker of the afternoon, Mrs. A. H. Daynard of Staffa. Couple Married 40 Years An enjoyable gathering was held at Dahny's, Wingham, Sat- urday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Palin, who were 40 years married on March 7. Mrs. Palin was formerly Nell Grummett- The event was arranged for neighbors and friends by their sons Jim and Bob, with about 40 in attendance. Those in at- tendance were from Windsor, Clinton, Blyth, Wingham and Seaforth. An account of the wedding of 40 years ago and an address was read by Joe De Groot and numerous gifts were presented by Hugh McPherson, Mrs. Gor- don Elliott and Mr. De Groot. Both Mr. and Mrs. Palin replied in appreciation. Following a turkey dinner, e'uchre was played with win- ners being: high, Mrs. Herb. Harrison and Gordon Elliott; low, Dianne Grummett and Gary Bannon; lone hands, 'Mrs H. James A. Blay, Hydro's dir- ector of public relations, congratulates her on her achieve- ment at the Ontario Weekly Newspaper Association conven- tion in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Queen has been a Chronicle cor- respondent. flu- 58 years. The convention which attraCted Weekly publishers from across Ontario concluded Sunday. Officers elected included the president, Reg. Workman of Winchester, who succeeded Andrew Y. McLean of the Huron Expositor, the retiring president. Mr. and Mrs. McLean and family attended the ,event. NEWS of WALTON Stanley McClure, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McClure had the misfortune to break a leg while tobogganing last Sunday. Review Meeting The UCW of Duff's United Church met in the schoolroom Wednesday afternoon. The re- port of the Huron -Perth Unit- ed Church meeting in Seaforth was re-enacted. The religious session was conducted by Tars. Martin Baan opening with, "The Church's One Younda- tion" with Mrs. Herbert Tray- iss at the piano. The scripture was taken from John 111 fol- lowed by prayer by Mrs. Ray Williamson. Comments were given by Mrs. M. Baan. The morning report was given by Mrs.. Torrance Dundas during which the "Final Verdict" was presented. , The skit was presented at the Presbyterial. Those taking part included Mrs. W. C. Hack - well, Mrs. Harvey Craig, Mrs. Alvin McDonald, Mrs. Roy Wil- liamson, Mrs. Clifford Ritchie, Mrs. Herb Williamson, Mrs. James McDonald, Mrs. Martin Baan, Mrs. Jan Van Vliet,' Mrs. Ross Bennett, Mrs. Geo. Wil- liamson, Mrs. Allan McCall, Mrs. Kenneth McDonald, Mrs. Douglas Fraser, Mrs. Nelson Reid and Mrs. Herb Traviss. Mrs. James Clark reported for the afternoon meeting. Mrs. W. B. Clifford Ritchie, Chris- tian Citizenship told of a film to be shown at the April meet- ing. Mrs. W. C. Hackwell read a ,portion out of "Outreach" giv- ing the history of the country of Kenya. The McKillop Unit sponsored a Progressive Lost Heir party Friday evening in SS no. 9 Mc- Killop. Prize winners included Ladies high, Mrs. Peter Mc- Donald; Ladies low, Mrs. Mur- ray Dennis; Gent's high, Mur- ray Dennis; Gent's low, Wil- liam Leeming; Lucky Cup, Ross Leeming. The second meeting of the 4-H course was held at the home of Mrs. Gerald Watson and the roll call was answered . kyy eight members. It was deem ed that "Walton Party Plan- ners" would be the name of the club. For group work the club wrote and answered , informal invitations and was shown the proper way to pack a .suitcase •and what to take on different trips. Manners as a guest and a hostess at home or away from home were discussed. Mi'ssion and The Mission Band met Sunday morning in Duff's Church with 45 members present. The call to worship was given by Rick McDonald followed by "Take Time to be Holy" with Bruce McDonald at the piano. . The. leader Mrs. Merton- Hackwell read a story and coh. lection was taken by Keith Cgrk and John Leeming fol- lowed by the treasurer's re- port by Roger Humphries. Joan Bennett read the secre- tary's report. Gail Sca.rle will plav the niano in April. Classes were taken by Mrs Mac Shol- dice, Sharon Marks, Mrs. Wil- liam Coutts, Mrs. William Roe, and Mrs. Merton Hackwell. The meeting ,closed, with "What a Friend we have in Je- sus". Sunday guests at the home of Mrs .Walter Broadfoot in- cluded Mrs. Ferne Patterton, Mrs. Bessie Davidson, Mrs. G. McArthur and Mrs. Ivy Hen- derson all of Seaforth. • Miss Betty Hoegy of Listo- wel visited over the week end with her Parents Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hoegy. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Carter and Jimmy of Galt spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Hood. Mrs. Henry Parsons of Van- couver who spent a few days with Mrs. Norman Long, re- turned to Toronto Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eyre of Egmcindville called on Mrs. Long on Sunda. On Wednesday, March 6th, about 80 grade 8 pupils left Huron Centennial School to go to London to see "Gone With the Wind". was a good movie.
