Mr. Jas. M. Wild is having an en-
forced holiday, as tho result of an acci-
dent while at his work in the upholstering
factory last Wednesday afternoon, when
two of hia fingers were badly cut and
bruised. The accident will lay him
aside from work for some weeks.

the forthcoming supply of new Public
School text books, the Education De-
partment has under consideration the
advisability of supplying the readers
free, as well as reducing the list of other
authorized text books to the minimum.
-Efforts are being made to quash the
Waterworks by-law whioh was recently
carried in Clinton, on the ground of
grave irregularities in the taking of the
vote, and election proceedings, and on
account of the non -appointment of poll
clerks and their absence at the several
polls,

adopted, on motion of Messrs. Kealy
and Moffatt.

interviewed the Council .re. Culverts on
Government Drains in the Plot. Mov
ed by Mr. Rutherford, seconded by Mr.
McMichael, that Mr. Kelly be appointed
to let job of deepening bath of the oul-
verts in the Plot and putting 18•inoh
tile in the Waite Culvert and 2 foot tile
in the other. -Carried
Moved by Mr. McMichael, seconded
by Mr, Rutherford, that the Clerk be in-
structed to notify Andrew Ballagh to
have the Branch Drain known as the
James Drain cleaned out on or before the
let day of November next and if not
done by that date Council will proceed to
let the work and charge the cost to Lot

colored people, presenting an entertain-
ment which gives the greatest ,ppreisnre
as the audience is oontinually kept
amused and the performance is given
with a snap that dds ter the general
success and it le aa clean as a pastoral
drama. The comps y ecently appeared
in Harrieton and a Review of that
town dated Oot. 17th., last had the fol•
lowing article about the performance.

company came well recommended and
fully sustained their reputation as a

orchestra were excellent, their choruses
good and their general stage performance

ried by the company will head the
"Koon" town parade at noon. Prices
