Within a year, or at latest eighteen months, steamships with an average sea speed of twenty two knots per hour will be crossing the Atlantic between Liverpool and Quebec, thus cutting the voyage down within the five day limit. This is a portion of the C. P. R. pro- gramme which will bo submitted to the stockholders at the annual meeting in October. The idea le to construct two vessels of twenty -two -,knots replacing the present Empress steamships on the Atlantic.
