winners for the share -the -
wealth games were: Pat
Shaw, Blyth and Carol Finlay-
son, Exeter, $41.50 each;
Mary McKinnon, Zurich and
Kathleen Stone, Vanastra,
$42 each; and' Ann Sallows,
Vanastra, S87. The $250
Jackpot winner was Pat Shaw
of Blyth. .

The Christmas Dance held
by the Vanastra and District
Lion's Club was a great
success. The Lions would like
to thank all those who,
supported them in this pro -
Don't forget the Christmas
Bazaar to be held this
Saturday; Dec. 1st in the
Vanastra Recreation Centre
from 10 cm. to 4 p.m.
It will feature tables of
crafts by the cubs, scouts,
wealth bingo games. The
Group Parent Committee is
sponsoring the buaar.
The Vanastra Guide Com-
pany will be holding an
enrollment on Wednesday,
Dec. 5th.
The Vanastra and District
lioness Club will be sponsor-
ing another Teen Dance on
Dec. 14th. The cost will be.
S3.00 per person or $5.00 a
couple. The dance will be
held in the Vanastra Recrea-
tion Centre from 8:30 p.m. to
12 a.m. and is open to kids 12
to 18.
HELPFUL HINTS
When baking fesh or can-
ned peaches or other fruits,
use sweet -pickle juice for
variety. •
Use onlyhalf as much
butter required for seasoning
vegetables if you brown the
butter first. Browning brings
out its flavour. ,
Avoid overboiling or con-
stant stirring when cooking
noodles by bringing the
_
pineapple. Measure Juice m
cup and add enough water to
make 1 cup liquid. Place on
stove and bring to a boil and
add 2 lime jello's, stirring to
dissolve. Let partly cool.
Add:
1 large can carnation milk,
1 cup mayonnaise
drained crushed pineapple
1 lb carton cottage cheese '
Let set in refrigerator until
firm. Red and green cherries
may be chopped and added
to give more colour.
BEAN SALAD
1-14 oz. can of each:
yellow beans.
green beans
kidney beans
1 large sweet green pepper
1 med. sized spanish onion
1 cup white sugar
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup salad oil
Drain all liquids from
beans. Rinse kidney beans,
slice onion and pepper thinly
• Combine all, Stir frequently
Let stand 24 hours.
