1 cup margarine
i/. cup; sugar
2 cups, all purpose flour
11/2 cups coconut ,
1/2 cups chopped red or green marashino
cherries
V4 cup raisins: or currants.
'/ cup chopped walnuts or almonds
1 cup Eagle Brand sweetened condensed
milk
Cream margarine .and sugar together..
Blend in flou , until mixture resembles
coarse crumbs, pat dough evenly into a
greased 9 inch square pan, Bake at 350•F
for . 20 minutes. Combine remaining
ingredients, spread evenly on shortbread
bakean additional 35 minutes or until'
golden brown. Cool thoroughly and cut into
bars. 'Sprinkle with icing sugar, if desired.

CHOW MEIN NOODLE COOKIES
'h cup peanut butter .
1 pkg butterscotch chips
Melt in double boiler
Add ,1 pkg chow mein noodles
1 cup minature marshmallows
Drop by spoonfuls and chill.

$4 cup butter
2 cup icing sugar
1 tsp salt
2tsp vanilla
2 c flout
l c nuts
Cherries
Cream shortening, butter, icing sugar,
salt and vanilla. Add flour and nuts, mix
well. Roll into balls. Punch with finger and
put '/: cherry in centre. Bake on greased
cookie sheet for 25 min at 325•F

CHERRY MACAROONS
1 egg white
few grains salt
'% cup white. sugar
1% 'cup wheatflakes or. cornflakes
1: cup chopped cherries.. ' " '
(candied or maraschino)
Add salt to egg, white and beat until stiff
but not dry. add sugar gradually, then fold
in, flakes and cherries. Drop by teaspoonful
on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 30
minutes :slow .oven (325°, degrees) makes 1

1 c shortening
1 egg,
.1 cup canned pumpkin
2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon.
'/: tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla.
1 c nuts, chopped,
1 c. dates, cut up
Cream sugar and shortening, add egg
and pumpkin. Mix in neat 5 ingredients,
add. nuts, dates and vanilla, •Drop from
spoon onto cookie sheet. Bake :12-15:
minutes at 350' Cool. Ice with icing..'

1 cup icing sugar
3tb butter
4 tb milk
' c brown, sugar
