HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Huron Expositor, 1979-11-15, Page 57ICE BOX COOKIES 1 c. butter or margarine or ' c. of each (room temperature) 1/2 light brown sugar ' tsp. vanilla 1 egg .. 1/8 tsp. salt 2'/2 c. sifted, all purpose flour 1 c, of chopped walnuts or pecans t c; glace or drained,'rnaraschino cherries,. halved in large bowl cream together the butter, or margarine, sugar, vanilla, salt & egg, until well blended. Add flour and beat until. well mixed. Add nuts & cherries. Mix well. Divide dough in half on sheet of wax paper.. Form into two, rolls 2" or 21/2" in. diameter. Chill dough, or freeze until hard. With sharp knife;, slice about '/." thick. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 'A" apart. They do. not spread. Bake 10 to -12 min, at 375°.. Do not overbake. These should just be, lightly browned. Remove &,cool on cake racks. A slice of or green cherry can be' placed on each cookie, before baking, if desired for Christmas cookies. Mrs. John Boyd .
