The Legion extends a -cordial welcome to all
School Children, Bay Scouts, Girl Guides.. Cubs,

other organizations, and the general public, to join

A number of local people reported sighting the giant
Lancaster bomber as it was carried! over Seaforth Monday
by a huge :Canadian Forces helicopter en route from
Goderich to. a Hamilton hangar where it will be restored,
Genevieve Horthy of North Main St., and her sister
Leone Rowat were among guests attending the launching
of a new series of stamps at the aeronautical museum in
Ottawa on Wednesday.
One of the stamps is dedicated to Mrs. Horthy's first
husband, Flight Lieutenant, David Hornell who won a
Victoria Cross which was awarded posthumously, Early in
WW2 flying the Consolidated Canso pictured on the
stamp,' he sank a German. II Boat and crash landed; safely
but then died from exposure in the north Atlantic,
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Campbell of Exeter spent Tuesday,
with Mr. and Mrs. Bill McMillian prior to leaving for
Florida:

Lionshead, Dr. and Mrs. Ernest Clarke, of Toronto, and,
Mr, and Mrs. Ken. Oldacreoftown were guests of M.
Watterworth over the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Clarke leave
on Monday for Mesa. Arizona.

Convention held in the• new St. Mary's Complex Arena
were Mrs. Ross Gordon, Mrs. James Keys, Mrs. R.M.
Scott, Mrs. •NormanRiehl, and Mrs. Gordan Papple. Mrs;,
Riehlwas the delegate for Seaforth W.I. and Mrs. Papple
is one of the vice presidents for the London area.
Dr. D.C. Maplesden, 59, has.been•named Dean of the
`Ontario Veterinary College, (OVC) University of Guelph.
The appointment will'become effective January 1; 1980..
Dr. Maplesden will'. succeed Dr• Dennis G. Howell,' who
has served two terms as Dean and steps down December
31, 1979.. Dr. Maplesden is director, animal ;health.
research and development. E.R. Squibb and 'Sons lne.•and..
associate director of The Squibb Institute for•Medical::.
Research. He practised at the Seaforth :Veterinary' Clinic
for a year, following graduation from OVC in 1950 .'
