Education, October 2 accept-
ed the base, bid of William
fiendriks Construction Ltd.
of Dorchester, The Henciriks
bid of $178,899 was the
lowest of the seven tenders
that were Made to the board.
The board has 'decided'
since all the preliminary
work has been done that it
will 'also go ahead'. with
renovationt which will create
stew drafting and art moms
in the School in addition tothe
new auto and machine shops.
Costs of the renovations will
be $4.216

from St. Patrick's placed second in their division in the recent cross
country run held on the Hicknell farm for students from area
separate schools. The team members are (back row, left Jeff Terpstra,

New play ground

Upper Thames Elementary
School in Mitchell is going to
be getting a new playground.
At last Tuesday nights
meeting of the Perth County
Board of Education, board
trustees gave their support to
the schools home and school
association Which is under-
. taking the project.
The new creative play-
ground will be the first of its
'type built in Mitchell. When
completed it will include
swings using old tires, rope
ladders, a spiral slide, a
.fireman's pole, jungle gym
_
and wooden __snspension'_...
bridge.
The new playground to be
built in the southeast corner
of the school property will ,
cost about $4,000 to build
and take about 80 hours to
, erect.
According to Mrs. Carol
Miller, president of the home
and school association, it is
hoped that the parents will
Supply the labor on the job
and the portion which the
association plans to build this
year will be built before the
snow flies.

Kathy Van NeS.: Karin finished first in the -division in the 'cross-
country run Which took place on the Francis Hicknell farm, St,'
Colum ban, last Thursday. There were about 75 runners in each division.
