Jack Eisler coached ' me all the : way through, he says with a smile. That's one of the .reasons that Ken was quick to. join Branch. 156 in 1971' after .associate members, children of ex -service people, were accepted. He's valued his Legion membership ever since. In a way he's "paying them. back" for all the time and money Legion members put into recreation in Seaforth: when he was'a kid, Ken says. On the Legion's member- ship committee for six years, Ken says the local branch is very accepting of .associates, very "liberal and progres- sive.,. Longtime. Legion members are very willing to share responsibility for therunning: of the branch, • recognizing that eventually "it's, uswho are going to have to do: it," he adds. More membersare welcome and Ken would like to see more associate mem- bers get really involved here: Ken says he . enjoys the club ' atmosphere at the:. Legion and calls. it "close. knit and: friendly." Nearly every noon hour he has a game of crib, mostly with. the .same group of regulars. "If you need help in or out of the Legion, thosehere are the first to offer," he says. Longtime Legion members: , Bill O'Shea and Jake Cornish persuaded Ken to join as. an associate member.. And he's ' never regretted his decision. "I' am pleased to have the opportunity to congratulate the Seaforth Legion Branch 156 on its 50th anniversary. The Legion has contributed to the Townand to the, community, and has added stability and strength to the community over the years.
