To the right of the Sottalk column were three advertisements.' One told of an Industrial Hockey League organizational meeting. Another was for anyone interested in playing broomball. The third referred to the Seaforth Minor Hockey league's booth at the fall fair, and. said registration forms for this winter could be had there. To the left of the same page, the Seaforth figure 'Skating Club ran an ad. Above it was one telling of a hunter safety course being offered in town, indicating the coming of the fall ,hunting season, There was also a short article on the opposite page about the goalie hockey school which Gar Biker Will be conducting in October. Well if that iSn't enough to depress alt. you summer -loving people, take a look at all the snowmobile ads in the paper r A quick glance at Carolattne Doig's L1n the Greens column teveals that the number of golfers using the course is dropping rapidly. And most if not all of the ball leagues in the arca have dompletedthis Year's competitions. I guess it was inevitable. After *ll, summer was offieially over 'ail, '• $tiday, But still it seems disappointing. Winter is comingt consider yourself forewarned. And all youpolar boars cart wipe those silly grins off your faces. That goes double for you snowmobilers. Aird. on' anothe .rnegative note, going away with the end of summer is Clive Buist, Seaforth's recreation direetor for several years. This is Clive 's last. week in. that post here, before he goes to Fergus to take on a similar job, He was honoured last week in. the arena, as he was 'roasted' ' by representatives of the many organizations that he helped. Clive came to Seaforth at a time when a recreation director Was considered a luxury. Anyone who doubted his value to our community was quickly converted in his thinking. It would be hard for sameotie who was not actively involved in several athletic groups to realize the effect that Clive had on Seaforth and area. Without a red, department headed by a Strong, , ambitious person, many, activities might never have occurred. Such include. the Snoopy School and other' summer happenings, the Seaforth-West Branch International Games, ands full schedule of arena eVetits, Clive organized' many things, and helped maintain thein. He provided a lot of people with a lot of things to do, 1lopefully his replacement will do as effective *job.. Halve hadn't helped create all of these things for people to do, maybe there wouldn't have been anything for Sportalk to tail about, to give Mainstreet 'a 2 run lead. In the bottom of the 1st the Queens came right back with 2 runs 'with Ray Klagis lit scoring two runs. The Queens added run number 3 in the second inning ,as Jack Price hit a triple and scored. on Don Nicholson's single. In the 4th Dave Brootne`s bunt single and a • Mainstrcet. throwing error .scored 'Dave, for the Queen's 4th tun.
