Recently five Agricultural Representa,-
-tives met for a round table discussion with
an accountant and lawyer. in no way mild
you describe these two as kids, They are
professionals -,in the best sense or the
word. Bot.. have grown up on the farm.
They have the same gut reactions as
farmers do. We talked about farm business
agreements, partnerships and corporations
They very clearly said be careful about
getting farmers involved; in corporations
and partnership. They could see a place for
limited use of a corporation or partnership -
for example -to own livestock, buildings
and five acres of land, But they said'have

Agriculture Minister John
Wise announced that
he has set .up a committee of
Members -of Parliament to
consult with the livestock
industry and consumers and
advise him on beef import
legislation,

chaired by Bert Hargrave
(PC -Medicine Hat), a well-
known Alberta rancher who
has been an M.P, since 1972.
Other committee members
are freshmen M.P,'s Sid
Fraleigh (PC-L,arnbton-
Middlesex), Lorne Green-
away (PC-Cariboo-Chilcotin),
Wilbur MacDonald- (PC
Cardigan) and. Charles
Mayer (PC -Portage -

dairy calf competitor was
Trent Foerter of Clifford who
scored 753 point.'
The senior level 4 -if calf
club • members who
represented their counties in
the third annual competition
were selected earlier this
year.

the Huron County
representative in the beef
calf competition, and she
scored 775 points.
The beef calf competition
was won by CherylMeArthur
of Stayherand Brian
Montgomery of Shelburne,
who tied for first place with
878 points,
Second. place 'was won by
Kevin Brown of Waterloo
County; and third by Nancy
Noecker of Moorefield, in
Wellington County.
'The champion competitor
in each class received 75
silver dollars on a silver tray.
Until last year, the Silver
Dollar competition was -
limited to dairy calf club
members. Because of the
popularity of the
competition, it was necessary
to limit the number of
entrants per county to five,
and , allow them only two
years participation.
The 4-.1-1 Beef Silver Dollar
Competition is in its second
• year,the result „of demands
for a senior level show based
on a beef heifer calf project.
All other top level beef shows
are based on a steer calf
project which ends when the
steer goes to market. The
heifer calf has the advantage
that the 4 -Her can keep her
to form the nucleus of a
future herd,
This year, 34 beef calves
Nere, entered in the
competition and 59 dairy
calves,
The shows were held at the
Erin Fairgrounds on Sunday.
