rheumatoid arthritis:

cure for rheumatoid arthritis
in the sense that it disap-

optimism and confidence
concerning the search for 'a
cure for rheumatoid arthritis.
Great progress has been.

medicines now on the market

lifelike bouquet.
.Mrs. Siemon first saver simtliar plaques
seven years ago, and shortly after .began
making them herself. To the ideas 'sate gets:
from postearda or pictures she adds
imagination to create; a unique design.
The stems .are .glued first - usually thin.
willow branches,• the seeds are then,
arranged as, flowvers, and: the 'leaves.
attached last: Regular white glue is used.
The: entire design is varnished or
shellacked after completion, to give t
sheen and strength. Althotgh the result ,IS
very- colourful. Mrs, Siemon sometimes,
usesoil paints to touch up. fading petals.
The whole .operation, if the board is
previously "prepared, takes a day to finish -
Mrs, Siemon has sold some of her
plaques, but many of them she gives away
as gifts.
The creative imagination'; evident .iin the
plaques extends to the other hobbies and
interests of Mrs: Sietnon. She paints in
oils, quilts, hooks rug.5., and works with,
crewel yarn. The home of Mr. and Mrs..

Mr Lewis, who bccante
provincial leader of the NDP
in 1970. will be honoured by.
the College for his significant
contribution to the quality of
Canadian life as a humani-
tarian, author, politician and
journalist
He resigned as Leader in
February, 1978 and resigned
from . politics in November,
1978: Mr. Lewis is currently
broadcasting on CKey Radio
and City " TV,, , writing a
column for the Sunday Star
and is a part -.time lecturer at.
the University of Toronto in
the Occupational Health
Department.
