Golden Helmets comin
The Ontario Provincial Po-
lice motorcycle precision
team, the Golden Helmets,
will be one of the special
attractions at the Seiforth
Fall Fair on September 21.
The Golde n Helmets team
was formed in 1963 and has
• •L8-: members-- includingitS
own commentator.
All of the riders are exper-
ienced regular OPP motorcy-
cle patrol officers selected on
a voluntary. basis. They are
• temporarily relieved of their
normal ' patrol Work during
their exhibition schedule.
The team undergoes special
training for several weeks
• and continues practising bet -
:Ween events to maintain the
perfection necessary for the
intricate maneuvers.

Assistant Commissioner J.S.
Kay of the OPP..traffii- divi-
sion, Toronto, the. Golde ri
Helmets have demonstrated
their expert riding skill at
numerous fairs and exhibi-,
tions across the province.
The team has also participa-
fed Cana-
dian National Exhibition, Nia-
gara.Grape and. Wine Festi-
val (receiving top honours)
and various annual agricultur-
al •fairs arid Santa Claus
parades, They: have alsoll
appeared in the Grey Cup ;
Parade.
The OPP motorcycle team
was a leading, participant in
the 1977 Queen's. Silver Jubi-
lee celebrations, performing
at Queen's ParkOn Dominion

cials. They are equipped with
•two-way radios, sirens, flash-
ing and revolvingredlights.

these officers on traffic patrol
OPP motorcycles play an
important role on Ontari o's
highways particularly in the
South. Mobility is their big-
gest asset, bringing first aid,•
and assistance through lines
of waiting traffic to the scene
of an accident. '
The prqcision performance
is just that. It should .not be
•construed as trick or stunt
riding. Each 30 -minute per-
formance is based on numer.
Ous intricate maneuvers,
split-second tinting and high-
ly developed riding skill.

cousins, and friends in Kingston, Amherst Island, Sealeys,
Bay, Westport, Perth and Qananoque,„ ,and enjoyed the,
one Thousand Island Cruise.
Mr. and Mrs, Geo. Scofield ef Clearwater, Florida spent'
the past weet with Mrs, James Souter, John Street.
Recent vis*ors at the home of Rev. J, Ure and Mrs.
Stewart were Mrs. John McDonald and Mrs. Jean
McGale, Toronto. Prof. Gordon and Mrs. Couling, Guelph,
Mrs. Florence Diamond, New Hamburg and Mr, and Mrs.
Carman Facey, Woodstock.
Douglas Wright and family of Brockville, Ontario have
been holidaying with his parents Mr. and Mrs, Art Wright
of Seaforth) also with his brother Donald and family of
Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Coleman have returned from a
pleasant sight seeing bus trip to Winipeg and then north
by Via,Rail to Thompson, and Churchill on Hudson Bay,
Manitoba.
Mrs. NisholSon 'and son Jack Nicholson of Preston
daughter 'Barbara Alexander attended the McBurney
reunion on Sunday, August 19 at the home of Gordon
McBurney of Wingham.
Miss Daphne Wood of York, England has returned
home after spending two weeks at the home of Frank Sills
and family.
Mr. and Mrs, John Mason of E Lansing, Michigan are
spending a few days at the home of Frank Sills and, family.
