that municipality be amen-

waste tanks at their Aug. 7
meeting.
Council also passeda
second by-law, providing for
a contract with the Ministry "

sultants' fees toward the
development of a new waste
disposal site.;
In other business, the
Ontario Home Renewal Pro-
gram officer reported that
two home improvement pro.
jects have been completed
for the maximum of $7,500
each. Also, be said, there
was an interimpayment of
S1,600 for a third project. All
were approved.
The building inspector re.
ported six permits ssued in
July with an estimated value
of $107,500; the road super-
intendent reported that
513,621.19 was required on
Road, Voucher No. 7. Both
reports were approved.
Council also approved that
the agreement with the Blan-
shard Township Council, to,
charge 80 cents per yard for
gravel sold out of the Willis
Farm pit be confirmed.
"That Osborne Township
has always used and main-
tained that part of Side Road
21-22, South East Boundary
Concession which is located
on Lot 21 South East Boun-
dary Concession, and plans
on continuing to do so," was
appmved.

Seeing a 1931 Ford Model A Sport Coupe
'drive down the road; followed by a 1939
Chevrolet Deluxe Master, wouldn't have
even got a second look back in the '30's.
NOW add to that a 1923 Model T Roadster, a
1956 Chevrolet Bel Air and a 1948 Cadillac
Series 62 Sedanette, plus half a dozen
more, all: in perfect conditien. Put them all
ort the road driviog through .Seaforth in
1979 and you'll turn -a lot of heads.
That's just what happened last Sunday
afternoon when the Southern Ontario
,Street Rod Association held their 10th
annual picnic on Allan Butson's Farm,
R,R.2, Staffa.
• Street rods are old cars, usually
pre -1950, which have been, restored or
rebuilt. It's not unusual to' see a vehicle
from the 40's with a brand new engine and
Short drive train in it. But on the outside the ears
look original, with the exception of
citizen's band radio antennas. Street rods

are more for speed and racing than for
driving - and practical use. The street
variety are for touring from town to town
on weekends, driving to work or dislay at
' shows and competitions.
The S.O.S.R..A. was formed back in
1969, and is for owners of cars older than
1948. People wanting to join with vehicles
newer than this can if approved by 90% of
the' niemberhsip. Besides meeting, at the
annual picnic, members often get togehter
on weekends to talk cars; go for a tour or
attend meets throughout Ontario and in the
United States. '
Street rods, unlike hot rods, are for the,
entire -family. When driving in a 'convoy,
more often than not each car is occupied by

from the southern states and restored here.
Sometimes it takes a lot of time and money
to rebuild an old car, especially since parts
are often scarce. Just try getting a new
headlight for a 1929 Model A Tudor!
The association is mainly based out of

competitions. About 3 o'clock they went on
a tour through Seaforth, Benmiller and
Bayfield before returning home,

payers and 15 per cent
interest on unpaid road ac-
counts.
Four land severance ap-
plications were considered.
Approved without, consider-
ation was the Hodgert ap-

Romanson was not approved;
and will wait until such time
as enabling amendments are
made to the Secondary Plan.
A tile drainage loan ap-
plication of 54,500 was pro-
visionally approved..

funding by-laws were ap,

$9,400; Brock Creek
for 56,200; Gardiner -Stewart
for $17;000; Russell for
$6,100; Johns -Miller for
59,800; Black Creek for
$4,800; Johns for 52,600;
Dunn for 512,500; and Bus-
well for $4,800: ,
Council moved that sup-
plementary accounts of
-$3,315.03 paid in July be
approved, and that general
accounts of 556,907.95; be
paid. •
Council adjourned at 1
a.m. Next meeting will be
Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. , at the.
municipal hall. A planning
meeting is scheduled for the
last week in September.

amined. The total value of
building permits issued in
July was 586,100.90 and
included a new residence,
renovations to existing build-
ings and granaries.
The Clerk was instructed
to notify all local ready mix
concrete companies to re-
frain from durnping coete
on 'roadsides after washlng
trucks as this practice is in
contravention to the town-
ship road by-law which pro-.
hibits anyone from deposit-
ing trash or debris on
township roadsides.
