A newspaper recipe inspired Dorothy to
try making a gingerbread house for their
. family five Years age. The project grew
from there, and the following year houses,
were made for a, few other relatives.

works with her husband, SteVO, at the
Seaferth Veterinary Clinic, those she WarkS
with at the vet clinic in Winghara, and
other friends and relatives with a ginger.

than let it be eaten. Dorothy sms the
gingerbread house at her place usually
disappears one piece at a time -a gumdrop
here, a piece of icing there, until it is all
gone. Most people do eat at least part of
their gingerbread houses, although they
wait for the end of Christmas holidays in
order to get full use of them as. deCoratiOns,
Gingerbread doesn't lose its flavour, even
after it dries out, according to Dorothy.
To decorate the houses,' Dorothy mainly
uses her own ideas, although she some-

that first newspaper.
Dorothy designed a gingerbread church
resembling the Anglican, church in Blyth
for their centennial celebration. The origi-
nal recipe is also still used, but it has been.
