Perth. County Council
decided'. on Tuesday, July 10,
to make no comment on the
decision made by Stratford
City Councilto pull out, of the
proposed scheme to restore
the Fryfogel Inn, until it
received word officially.
Councillors listenedwith
dismay; as Clerk -treasurer
Jim Bell read to council, a
newspaper account of the
Monday city council meeting
which: told of the city of
Stratford's plan to renege in
its promise to help restore
thehistoric site.
The agreement between
the county and the city would
have seen Stratford pay
547,000, Perth pay $65,000.
and the remainder, nearly
$500,000, paid by senior
government agencies.
The Stratford city council
gave as its reasons forpull-
ingout of the deal the large
amount that they were ex-
pected to putinto the project
and the location of the inn,
about seven miles from
outside of ` the city on
Highway 7 and 8«. '
The.Perth Historical Board
the body set up primarily to.
restore the .0135 -year-old

had proposed a. major restor-
ation which would include an
addition to the building, an
elevator and the establishing
of a privatelyowned -restaur-
