The church was a "bee- hive" of activity.. when ap- proximately 100 children and teachers spent the week, "wheeling along God's way" through their very successful Vacation Bible School'., The many adventures of the.week' were led by an, excellent. staff of volunteers from the church and . community, • The school, the first in Hensall' lin many years, was, organized and; directed by. Rev. Stan.. McDonald,minis- ter of the United Church and took in the children from, the 'community and • areafrom four to .13 years of age . Mrs. Shirley Luther led the children; singing each morn- ing assisted orn-ing:assisted by Eric Luther at .the .piano, • These action and:, highly spirited songs sent the Varna of reatsuccess children out singing into the 'homes and the community during the remainder. of .the. day. The bible study ,hand work, craft and games peri- ods were led by an enthusias- tic staff of men and women of the community. In charge of the different departments were: Nursery, Mrs. Janis Bisback, •Cathy - Geiger, Julie , Mock and Melissa Veal. Kingergarten, in char8e was Mrs. Pamela Scotchmer with helpers. Vick ie Mann, Mrs, Dianna Brock, and Joanne Bell. The Primary Department was led by .Mrs. Barbara Gackstetter, , Mrs. Kathy Mann, Mrs. Sharon Beaver,. Mrs. Elaine:. Stebbins. and 'Mrs. Grace Sararas. Quite a number of folks from Varna attended the '.Reid reunion in Seaforth on' Sunday: They included Gotdon and Ruby Hill, Bev and Shirley Hill and family,. Anna and Bruce Keys and Ervin and Helen Keys and family, Marilyn and Jennifer Laing of Mississauga were home for the reunion. 'they ex- tended it to include the Brucefield Varna area. They're in Vanasira on Mondays, , 'Egmondville on Tuesdays and Varna on Thursdays. The township hall will be usedif the weather is unsuitable for outdoor. activity. A trip has been planned . for each Wednesday; and last week S9' children went by bus to Rocktonto the. Lion . Safari. There: has been an excellent responseto the playground in this area. The people at the Recreation Centre are to be highly commended for running this program. Helen, Tanney worked on the registration. Expenses have not yet been met. On Friday morning, par- ents and the community, were invited toview the work of the .:various departments,. hear the singing . and . the story of their weeks study through a short programme. Wall plaques, banners, • waste paper baskets, book- marks, book, covers were among the projects finished: and proudlyy taken home for the family to share. McDonald preached: ' on, Our Christian Perspective. He said the church. of today, needs to wake up.. it is weak and, trailing too often when it should be applying itself to the problems of today. The Church must think,: speak and act positively, to pray and to be a church ' of strength unfailingly. The children's story was about the honey bee; the honey bees of christianity are to be honest, truthful, cheer- ful and heer-fuland' reverent. Holy Baptism will be held atthe service next Sunday.
