The only snag, in the expansion plan is the removal of a small wooded area onthe proposed site, in. the second, concession of Logan', Towns. 'The countyhiptree inspector said, Ellice Reeve George Wicke reported. "That while there is no good timber in the bush, it is a good wood lot." Warden Ormond Pridham said that if this is.. the case then the trees couldn't be -cut in contradiction of the county Rea h Unit rent op, - The rent is going up on the Perth County Health Unit offices, This, year the county will be ,asking the . health unit to .come upwith an extra 8500 rent. The unit has paid $6,000 rent for its offices at 24 St. Andrew Street for .the past six years according to :county. clerk -treasurer Jim Bell,. The rent included light, heat, water and janitorial services, The rent on tb , two offices occupied by the health unit in the County Court House will remain at $1,809 as in pre- . Vious years. Water Well iDRiLLING' ,W.D. Hopper and Sons (4 MODERN ROTARY RIGS Neil 527-1737 Durl''527-0828:: Jim 527-0775: tree inspector's decision., Mitchell Reeve Ray Robin- son told, the :council that the expansion had to take, piaeeN because 'the present; lagt;ons: were full to .overflowing and that the approximately eight acres. of woodlot and the surrounding land which, is already owned by the town is big enough for the; expansion. The Mitchell lagoons can now ;only be flushed during high water periods suck at the spring and the ministry of environment has made it clear that it is unhappy that the town is exceeding the capacity of the lagoons. The county had the -right to veto the expansion, because large wooded areas under the trees act are subject to the county tree protection bylaw. Reeve Robinson argued that the woodl'ot doesn't have many good trees, and even if the expansion is allowed Mete expansion would be needed to handle additional waste in the future. "Once this period -proposedexpansion installed it should be able to handle Mitchell's sewage problems until the year 29011 Reeve Rbbinson said. W4114ce Reeve Rae Render added that Mitchell should. try to Rod some other way to handle their sewage problems, . "There must be better , ways . to solve Mitchell's sewage problem than with; those stinking lagoons." The shortage of space inthe sewage lagoons had led. to the ministry of environ ment curtailing all re- sidential building within the, town, Reeve George Wicke told; the council' the county Couldn't give permission;; "But. -that doesn't mean they're never) getting per- mission." lower interest Rates NOW AVAIL'',B . oN 1st and 2nd Mortgages Rostbf.v,'11:11 i'bi's"F to yt (()Mwiz( 1 yl :etid ..1 'OM PRUPI I l I1'S lnti'i'in1; l in int-in!t oust Eu' l itot or l,hitt des elol, nieitt WAY INVESTMENTS & CONSULTANTS LTD.
