The Sande family are eeleeee from, East Williams Township outside London. to More Township, near Sarnia, in the story •ebeut moving day. Mr. Callen) Was a neighbour of my father's when he grew up on the farm, and when the Cellums retired from farmingthe moved te Froomefield 4nd. were next door neighbours when I was grieving up. Mrs. Callum, a trained nurse, had epen; many years in Western Canada, and her stories about the homesteaders and the West were always pepular. I've spent many hours in the Centime' living room in my younger days listening to stories about everything from early threshing bees to community history... Even though this story isn't about the Seaforth area, I imagine anyone who, has ever moved might enjoy IVIOVING, DAY FOR THE.SAND S FAMILY As Hook back now. I think how hard it must have been for .lohn Sands and his wife, Annie McDenald, to close the door and gate to that old home for the last time. It was. there he was here and there she came as e.bride on March 28th, 1877. Ther the family had been born and from that heMe his brothers and sister had gone one by one to make homes of their own. It was to that home that his mother and father had come after long weeks crossing the Atlantic, Then followed the long trek through the woods until they arrived at this place. Here in East Williams the little clearing was made and their first log house was erected. From here with the help oEtherfamily. they b ed and; cleared the soil and bent the new horn.
