reported the quietest Hallowe'en on record.

Gang" have been taking cigarettes, money,
tapes and tape decks from unlocked cars ►n
Seaforth. Seaforth police warn all motorists
to lock their cars.
NOVEMBER9
Sham MacDonald, Brucefield, a handi-
capped canoeist was surprised when she
received a trophy from the Ontario Marathon
Cance Racing Association. She won the
trophy for being the handicapped canoeist
who has accumulated the most points.
Representatives of 31 Seaforth organiza-
tions met for the first ever Seaforth
recreation conference. They spent a day
talking over common problems and ways of
working together to solve them.
Paul Carroll, principal of Seaforth Public
School has been named superintendent of
special education with the Huron County
Board of Education, effective Jan. 1.
McKillop township residents won't guar-
antee that their water will not be contami-
nated if a new landfill site is located near
their properties.
Final approval has been received from the
Ministry of Culture and Recreation for a
$25,000 grant to restore Cardno's Opera
Hall.
NOVEMBER 16
In efforts to stave off possible bankruptcy,
directors of the Seaforth Farmers Co -Op
asked their members to consider a merger
agreement with the Hensall District Coop-
erative.
For the past year, John Jew of Seaforth
has been trying to sponsor his mother of
Hong Kong as a Canadian immigrant. But
his request was denied because there is no
proof the two are mother and son.
Gary Jewitt, principal of Brookside Public
School in the -j.ucknow area will be the new
principal at Seaforth Public School. He was a
vice-principal in Seaforth from 1968 to 73
when John Talbot was principal at the
school.
Close to 200 people braved cold winds and
wet snow to attend Remembrance Day
services at the Seaforth Cenotaph. Element-
ary students participated during the service.
The fourth consecutive controlled deer
hunting season has ended in Huron County.
Approximately 175 deer were killed in the
distract.
NOVEMBER 23
Doc Stephenson, a veteran Brussels
fireman for 38 years, has retired from the
department. But he says he will still follow
the firetruck to local fires.
There were no objections at a public
meeting concerning a proposed zoning
bylaw amendment to allow construction on
narrow commercial building lots. The
meeting lasted only five minutes.
A rue killed 450 pigs and destroyed a barn
owned by Robert Van Den Neucker of RR4.
Seaforth. Damage is estimated at 5200.000.
Elementary students in Seaforth and area
learn about the mystery of opera. The
Canadian Opera Company Ensemble was at
the Seaforth Public School to explain opera
singing.
Susan White. managing editor of the
Huron Expositor has taken a year's leave of
absence from her position. Susan, Andy and
daughter Gaby are spending a year in New
Zealand.
NOVEMBER 30
Seaforth was hit by an early icy blast of
winter. Strong east winds uprooted trees and
caused power outages in many centres. The
residence of Mr. and Mrs. Andy White.
McKillop township, received extensive
damage when a tree fell on their house.
Winds also lifted off the roof at Rowcliffe
Motors.

A sewage study for Seaforth. although 95
per cent complete. has come to a standstill.

treated sewage is being discharged into the

St. James Separate School. Seaforth is
participating in a pilot project for gifted
students. The program is unique sine all

Mr. and Mrs. long Van Dorp of Hallett
township received an award from the Huron
County Family and Children's Services for
their 15 years as foster parents.
Christmas cards can be mailed for 10 tents
says Seaforth postmaster Clarence Holmes.

Ron Murray of RR2. Dublin. was
re-elected chairman of the Huron -Perth
Separate School Board. He also served as
chairman in 1981.
Tuckersmith township council approved
the terms and conditions of the municipal
agreement for the establishment of a landfill
operation between Seaforth and 'McKillop
and Tuckersmith townships_
Close to 5180 was stolen when thieves
broke into the Seaforth Curling Club and the
Seaforth and District Community Centres.
Police have not,laid charges and there are no
suspects.
Santa Claus made an appearance at the
Brussels and Seaforth Santa Claus parades.
Friday. Dec. Ib is the last day for Paul

Three Seaforth and area reser were
honored at the regular u ccting of Seaforth
council. The 191333 Citizens of the Year
include Joyce McClure, Service to Sports;
Betty Beatte/trainer, Humanitarian Award;
and Belle Campbell. Clete Service Award.
Over 250 letters were written by 350
students of Seaforth Public School to John
Roberts. minister of Canada Employment
and Immigration. The students ate sumoat-
ing John Jew's bid to sponsor his mot. of
Hong Kong as a Canadian immigrant.
The generosity of Seaforth and area
people has made this year's Christmas
Bureau a success. Locally, the project was
headed by the Seaforth Lioness Club for the
first time.
Seaforth council has approved a heritage
conservation district for Main Street. The
Om will be forwarded to the
Ontario
Ministry of Culture and Recreation.
