My concern is that we are deviating from policy. Everybody feels they have special circumstances. I'm quite prepared to take the heat from individuals and prepared to tell them we operate within the guidelines. • Now we're getting away from' guidelines. 1'd hate to put any child in jeopardy, but I can't - see that we are," said Mr. Jewitt., • Trustee John Elliot said it seems that if a special presentation is made to the manage- ment committee, guidelines can be altered. -Board- vice-chairman Eugene Frayne emphasized that the arrangement is only for three months and "no promises" wre made to make similar arrangements nex year. (Wasstnk photos) Carollers bring Christmas spirit to door BY PATRICIA RIMMER This year's Santa Claus parade was as good as ever. It was really gdod to see so many organizations participating in this annual parade to make it a sgccess- ,. , I, • There was a great variety of themes behind tube floats. Some depicted the meaning of Jesus in Christmas while others concentrated more on a family Christmas theme. Many floats wished spectators 'a Merry. Christmas and some people even gave out candy. Finally. at the end of the parade was the man that children had impatiently awaited - Santa Claus. The parade was a lot of fun to watch and just as much fun to participate in. It really amazes me however, how many different themes of Christmas there are. It makes a person wonder what the true meaning of Christmas really is. Many people center their lives and Christmas around this special birth of Jesus. Families go to church on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Christmas Sunday. These people appreciate the Christmas story and listen to stories of the Wise Men, the shepherds and the angels. Christmas holds a Special meaning to these people. ctb NOTICE OF CORRECTION Due to ah error on the part of the Goderich Signal -Star, incorrect information appeared in an advertisement scheduled ' for Goderich, Seaforth, Luc know and Wingham for the week of December 7, 1983. These people exchange gifts with one another and enjoy this ,holiday eating, drinking and visiting friends and family. But, gifts are becoming a theme of their own, Many children and adults cohsider Chritmas a time of year to be given presents. Gift -giving can be tied in with the religious - aspect of Christmas because Jesus was God's gift to man. Also, the Wise Men and Three Kings brought gifts for Jesus. We keep up this tradition by exchanging gifts with, loved ones. Gifts are often related to Santa Claus, the well-ktlwn good samaritan of gift -giving. The magic and mystery of Santa Claus overwhelms and excites children at this time of year, although they don't know exactly who or where Santa Claus is. Santa Claus is a spirit. He is in every warm -felt hand shake, in friendly hellos and affectionate embraces. Santa Claus is present when you help someone in a special way; perhaps helping a friend to shovel .the sidewalk or aiding an elderly lady across the street. Everyone has a little Santa in them. He's there when you write to an out-of-town friend or relative or when you visit with a lovely neighbour. WILL BE OPEN EVERY DAY UNTIL CHRIST MON.-SAT. 9:30 A.M. ' FRIDAY UNTIL Last weekend nine-year-old boys showed their spirit when they carolled through the neighborhood. When this group arrived at my house, I had no idea what they wanted. When they began singin Little Drumm r Boy" followed by "M Christm4s."I round myselrunusually left speechless: Their harmony wasn't perfect but they "sounded better to me than most professional choirs. One boy was keen to sing but his eyes never stopped looking at the ground. Another boy 'Was singing away but rolled his eyes all the while. The next boy shyly grinned between words while his friend neat to him sang while kicking at the snow. The last boy, who was obviously embaras- sed by the whole ordeal, sang with his face to the wall...but he didn't miss a word. These boys, after receiving cookies for their excellent deed, wished me a Merry Christmas and continued on their rounds of the neighborhood. This truly showed. the giving, caring Christmas spirit of bringing good cheer to others. These boys took a father's advice and brightened up my, and I'm sure many others' night. Perhaps you can demonstrate a little Christmas spirit to someone you know. P.S. Thanks Kevin, John, Kalen, Stephen and Jason; you really did make my day. AS :00 P.M. 9:00 P.M.
