The Hensall Branch of the Royal Canadian
Legion is pleased to report a very successful
Poppy Campaign in our area. Our thanks to
Hensall, Zurich and area businesses, and
residents. Our Poppy Chairman, Larry Uy
reports approximately 3000 •poppies werC
distributed and 14 wreaths were placed at
the cenotaph. Expenses were 5600.86 and a
profit of 5891.14 was realized.
For veterans assistance and grants to the
hospital, the po py'fund spent 5550.87 from
Oct. 1, 1982 to Sept. 30, 1983.
The Branch would also like to thank the
whole community for their support at the
church, cenotaph serv)ee and tfit: Remem•
brance Day banquet.

Last Monday afternoon the ladies front the
Bethel Reformed Church played Wirer With
the residents and •ledithem in surging,
Tuesday Church service was conducted by
Rev. Stan McDonald and several ladies,from
Unit 3 assisting him; On Tuesday evening
several ladies from the Zurich Mennonite
Church were in to help with crafts and
listened to Christmas records while prepar.

Wednesday was a busy day with the
residents' council in the afternoon and
Friday was bowling at the Zurich bowling
lanes. 'Albert lzga ended up with high for the
men with a score of 133 and. Stephanie Bosse
the high lady with a score of 76. Saturday a

buffet supper was enjoyed ending up with
movies.

"Northerest" Open Rause was well
attended on Sunday afternoon when local
residents and visitors front London, Grand
Bend, Dashwood, .Zurich, Seaforth, Dieter
and Goderich assembled to view the interior
of the news "'erected structure.

in attendance to speak with persons
interested in erecting similar homes m other
municipalities.
Mozart Gelinas and his Melody Makers
volunteered free orchestra. music and
singing for the afternoon. The furnishings
were supplied by Whitings Furnishings.

try,Flowers" supplied the floral arrange-
ments; the various plants were supplied by
Noel Grand Bend florist.

Although the convenor of the standing
committee, Evelyn Workman, was in
hospital,; she provided an outstanding

Mr. Chapman 'brought'along a computer
and proceeded with his talk on modern and
ancient technology. Computers began as
huge machines but the microyehip has made
a great change in the sire of the machines.
He predicted that there would be still
greater Changes in the computer. ,
Since the beginning of time; p ogle have
been reluctant to change but the ehtldren-in
the schools are quite interested. However
there still has to be a brain at work to, handle
the new technology.
He concluded by saying that education is a
fascinating field in which to work. He was
thanked by Mona Alderdice.
Mrs. Drummond opened the meeting with
two readings, "A Monster is my Teacher"
and "Peanut Butter". Sunshine report was
given by Grace Pepper and treasurer's
report by Mona Alderdice. Report of the
board meeting was given by Hilda Payne
and, Grace Drummond reported the area
convention. Rena Caldwell gave the motto
"Forget what you can't do and concentrate
on what you can."

Service at Si. Andrew's Church, Itippen
was held at 10 a.m. on Sunday Nov. 20 with
Pastor . Don Moffat. Mrs. Gerald Moffatt
presided at the organ. ht the ministry of
music the choir presented "The Rose".
Sunday school was well attended. The
annual Christmas party of the Sunday school
will be held on Dec. 4. Donations to the
candy bags and shut-in cheer boxes will be
greatly appreciated.
