Unicef boxes back for separate schools 'UNICEF boxes may once again b^ carried this Hallowe'en by separate school students in Huron and Perth Counties. Last year, the Huron' -Perth Separate School Board supported and encouraged the use of Mother Teresa boxes on Hallowe'en instead of the UNICEF boxes. Director of education William Eckert said he will inform the principals of the schools that they are free to distribute whatever kind of boxes they wish to have the children collect money on Hallowe'en. The change in the board's stand comes after a letter was received from UNICEF Ontario. The letter addresses concerns expressed in the past by the Huron -Perth Separate School Board and other boards. These concerns revolved around UNICEF's supposed involvement with family planning clinics and the distribution of contraceptives in Third World countries. The letter cites written support of UNICEF by Pope John Paul II by the Ontario Separate School Trustees' Association, and the fact that UNICEF has limited its "co-operative activities with other United Nations agencies which have caused concern in the past.
