. The market at Brussels Stockyards traded
on a good demand on heifers, and steers
barely steady. There were 516 cattle and
1219 pigs on offer. -

Friendship Sunday, Sept. 25, was enjoyed
by all who attended the Brussels Mennonite
Fellowship. Approximately 100 people were
seated on the front lawn for an informal
worship service conducted by Rev. Doug
Zehr with "Friendship" as his meditation
theme.
Ann Hemingwa accompanied the con-
gregational hymns with the accordian. The
children enjoyed an object lesson on "Tutors
- Friend ot(Foe".
Each person attending received a Friend-
ship Button and a lamb barbecue and
potluck dinner followed.
PERSONALS
Pte. David Hall, Baden, Germany is
visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hall,
for two weeks.
Mrs. Aletha Rann, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hall
and family, Brussels, and Pte. Davit Hall,
Baden, Germany spent Sunday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rann and family, Galt,
Cambridge.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Hemingway spent the
weekend at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Peter
Hemingway, Listowel.
The Brussels Lawn Bowling club ended the
season with a tournament followed by a pot
luck dinner on Sept. 26, A total of 27 members
were present with extra guests for supper.
The Gibson trophy was won by Ross Turvey
and Jean Re"lev. Gerald Gibson also
presented Ross and Jean with 'keeper
trophies'. Other prize winners were Norman
Hoover and Isabel Gibson; Gerald Gibson
and Marj Coultes; Jim Coultes and Mary
Turvey; George In lis and Ida Evans.
Consolation - Jim Mair and Jean Robertson.
Committee chairman was Jim Coultes.
A short business meeting was conducted
by President Jim Bowman. The annual
meeting and card party will be held Monday
evening, Oct. 3.
BRUSSELS FAIR
Winners in the ladies division of the
Brussels Fair were: Mrs. Heimpel, Wroxe-
ter, won the blanket for the most points in
hobby and fancy work classes; Mrs. Bessie
Johnston won 110 for the most points in the
baking section and the fifty-fifty draw was
won by Bill Protopapas.
The fair was held at the BMG this year and
everyone found it an improvement, especially
the ladies on the board who worked so hard
every year to set up the exhibits.

The Rev. Ken Innis and Stephen Adams
are competing at the International Plowing
Match at Richmond near Ottawa.
Mrs. Doris Foster, Inverhuron visited with
her sister Muriel and Herman Whitfield on
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bryans have returned
after spending two weeks at the cottage at
Red' Bay.

On Sunday, Oct. 2 the Brussels Mite and
Squirt Boys and their fathers enjoyed Blue
Jays ball game in Toronto.
The group travelled on the Booster Bus
and watched the Toronto Blue Jays play the
Minnesota Twins with the Twins winning 9
to 3. They all enjoyed supper at McDonalds
on the way home. •
ICE BEING MADE
The ice machine has been turned on at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey arena and the ice
will soon be ready for all the hockey, skating
and winter sports.

DR. DUNCAN JAMIESON
Dr. Duncan Jamieson, 51 year old
Kitchener ophthalmologist, died Tuesday,
Sept. 20, while on a three-week tour of
Europe with his wife Betty. He suffered an
aneurysm and was admitted to a Budapest
hospital where he remained unconcious until
suffering a heart attack.
The son of Dr. W.D.S. Jamieson, Brussels
doctor for many years, he attended Brussels
Public and Continuation Schools, finishing
High School ii Toronto. In 1956, he
graduated from the University of Toronto
medical school at the top of his class. He was
a general practitioner in Durham, from 1958
to 1968 and was also town coroner.
In 1968. he left Durham to study

Betty Ann Messer,,are his father, Dr.
W.D,S. Jamieson, Tronto; three children;
Robert, St. Thomas;- Peter Jamieson,
Waterloo; and Mrs. Doug (Nancy) Dahmer,
Peterborough. He was predeceased by his
mother in 1978.
The family`received friends in the Heather
Room of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church,
Kitchener, Sept. 27. A memorial service was
held on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. and
graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 3
at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.
Masons hold ladies night
Blyth and Brustels Masonic Lodges held
Ladies Night banquet and concert in the
Brussels Legion Hall on Sat., Oct. 1.
The Legion Ladies Auxiliary catered the
hot beef dinner.
Head table guests were led in by piper
Rick Elliott of Blyth. Rt.Wor.Bro. Grant
Elliott was master of ceremonies. Wor.Bro.
Charles Carpentier said the grace. After the
meal, V.Wor.Bro. David Miller proposed
the toast to Grand Lodge, which was replied

The Cranbrook W.I. met at the home of
Mrs. Leslie Knight for the September
meeting.
For the roll call, each member had
brought her baby picture which resulted in
an interesting guessing game.
Members were divided into groups by the
Tweedsmuir Curator, Mrs. Leslie Knight
when all worked to bring the books up to
date.
The next meeting will be held at the home
of Mrs. Clare Veitch on Oct. 6 at 8:15 p.m.
