WELCOME/ TO OKTOBERFEST—Accord-

Hildebrand Paint and Paper moved along
Main St. In Saturday's -Lions Oktoberfest
parade. Others on the float, from left, Include

Wood, Lorraine Betties and Joan Wood. The
hundreds of fresh flowers on the float were
given away to passersby after the parade.

Gordon Shobbrook Clerk of session invited
Harvey and Yvonne foggart to present their
son Jason Harold' to ;Rev. Grant Mills for
baptism. Assisting with communion were
Rev. Mills, Colin Swan, Gordon Shobbrook
serving bread; Bert Lyon, Diana Shobbrook,
Margaret Whyte, Jack Snell; wine, Jack Lee,
Suzanne Tamblyn, Laura Scott and Ronald
"Nesbitt.
Happy Gang Senior met Sept. 29 when
president Beth Knox welcomed all. Roll call
was answered by 24 members and 4 visitors.
Elsie Shaddick thanked for her Get Well
card. Zone 8 Rally is Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at
Seaforth.
NELSON LEAR
Nelson Lear of Huronview formerly of
Hallett Twp., Londesboro died Sunday Sept.
25, 1983 in Clinton Public Hospital in his
86th year. Born in Hullett, he was the only -
son of late Hannah and Edmund Lear. Prior
to moving to Londesboro in 1956 he farmed
on concession 13 Hullett.
He was predeceased by his wife, the
former Olive McVittie of Hullett twp. in
1967. He was also predeceased by four
sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Doris of
Burlington; Helen, Mrs. George Underwood
cf Wingham; June, Mrs. Stan Crawford of
Ottawa and one son Harry of Londesboro.
Also ten grandchildren.
Friends paid their respects at Tasker
Funeral Home, Blyth until Sept. 27 when
service was conducted at 2 p.m. by Colin
Swan of Londesboro United Church with
interment in Blyth Union cemetery.
Pallbearers were six grandsons Danny and
David Lear, Londesboro; Marc and Steve
Crawford, Ottawa; Nelson and John Under-
wood, Wingham. Floral tributes were
carried by Carol Crawford and Aileen
Underwood his youngest granddaughters.
The group donated 3100 to recreation
comtnjttee. A bus trip to Toronto Royal Fair
Nov. 11 will leave Bljth 8 a.m. Card winners
were ladies high -Jean Stott; lone hagds-
Dora Shobbrook; low-Vietts Hoggart; mens
high -Les Reid; lone hands -Jim McEwing;
low -Russell Good. Lunch was served by
Addie Hunking and Dora Shobbrook.
Aitnwell unit met on Sept. 19 and were
Invited to Burns Bazaar Oct. 12. Roll call for
October is cookies for nursery and junior
congregation.
Brenda Radford welcomed Mrs. Alison
Lobb who gave a talk on the work of the.
genealogy 'society.

Lucille White of Willowdale spent, week -
aid with Beth Knox.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson visited with
his aunt Annie Thompson, Ciarkesburg and
his father Wm. Hamilton, Moorefleld.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs/ Glen
Carter were their family Mr. and Mrs, Larry
Carter, Sincoe; Mr. and Mrs. Kevan
Broome, Lucan and Colleen Carter, Exeter.
Clara Riley and Ora Bruce enjoyed a tri
on a mystery fall color tour. They had lunch
at Milliken, toured green houses at Milton
and had supper there.
Mrs. Dora Shobbrook, Mrs. Thelma
Ellerby, Chastity. land Kennie Colquhon
spent Saturday in Woodstock and Paris
attending the auction sate of antiques held at
the home of Leonard Vodden, R.R.3, Paris.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Thompson were Mr. and Mrs. John Lawrie,
Rob and Jennifer, Kitchener; Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Radford, London.
Visiting at the Lear household Monday
and Tuesday were Harry's sister Doris from
Burlington and sister June and Stan
Crawford and family, Marc,Rose, Steven
and Carol from Ottawa.

Our• school pictures were taken Sept. 28.
John Williams was the photographer. On
Thursday, Mr. Williams was again at our
school taking pictures of preschoolers and of
students who were absent the day before.
CHOIR
The junior and senior choir both got started
this week with a big bang. Miss Bennett is the
leader of the junior choir with Mr. Cookson
accompanying at the piano. Mr. Cookson is
the leader of the senior choir with Mrs.
Bosman accompanying at the piano. Both
choirs had a good turn out.
HULLkTr RUNS FOR CANCER
On Sept. 30 was our Hullett and Terry Fox
run in which each class was asked to run a
kilometre more than their grade number.
Each person also was asked tp give a donation
which was split between our student council
and the Canadian Can•' ` ' T'^•^^�
and chocolate milk were served for lunch. It
was a very successful day. Mrs. B. Howson
from the Cancer Society ran with us.
HULLETT PLAYS SOCCER
On Sept. 27 the junior soccer teams had
their first tournament. The boys won two
games and tied one while the girls won one
game. They pia ed a games very well.
STORY TIME

pre-schoolers at Story Time.
PARENT MEETINGS
On Sept. 29 there was parent meetings for
kindergartens, grade one and grade two.. At
this time the parents came and talked to the
teachers. A film was shown to the parents
entitled "The Serious Business of Play".
