Me? Probably! Anyway, it Is the innocence of a child that makes life so interest- ing Take for instance, a church service. As everyone knows, a church is a very solemn and quiet place and those who attend are expected to make little noise. Children do not always realize this. Although many are quiet and well mannered during a service, there are others who love to giggle and chat and make the oodd comment out loud. Often this is a chance for grownups to release a laugh or a snicker while the embar- assed parent hushes his or her child. If you had a chance to go to the Fall Fair on the weekend, you would see how excited the children who attended were. Their faces were just beaming as they checked. out the prizes in the roundhouse, the.displays lmthe. arena, the games and rifles in the Itildvitay and last but not least, the hot dogs and candy floss and 'other good things available at the fair. Children had a' big part in this year's' Fall Fair. The new event, the •ritini-pedal pull drew a very large crowd and the crowd did not go home disappoint- ed. The look of determination and utter amusement ob- vious on Vie faces of little entrants was indescribable. It was fun for those taking part and for the parents and friends cheering them on. BABIES The baby show was also a big success and again the babies made it fun to watch. One little guy tried to take off his shoes while another wandered around the stage, his mother right on his trail. Another little baby slept through the whole ordeal as if nothing unnatural was going on. CHEERFUL • Adults make the fair suc- cessful by preparing for it and putting a lot of enerev PARTS DEPOT SERVICE DEPOT • h howtoie r E. AP tatoentftep and displays lilit children give the fair and any other social event the atmos- phere that it needs. You can always count on a child to make a ratify day more cheerful and exciting. Give the child a pain brush and paper and just wit and see how exciting that ay Will become. Only a child ca>9 come -up with 'brilliant crea- tions such as turning a bedroom into a store, hospi- tal or campground. At the end of August, 1 „ noticed a red glow coming from a neighbour's back yard. Expecting a fire or something worse, 1 inspected the matter a little more closely. Nothing to worry about though, just the neigh- bourhood boys camping out in the back yard. 1 remember a few years ago, a friend and myself camped out in our back yard. We ate in the tent, slept, set up a portable TV (really roughing it, eh?) and spent most of our time out in the tent. We had all sorts of fun and there was a house nearby that we pould run into if It startedtorain,or we had to use the bathroo{u, - Kids do come up with the craziest ideas,, but they make Ilfe a little more fun. Ask a. ,child, where chocolate milk climes ffont and yon may find out thet brow oowa.are the answer. A child's innocence and enthusiasm can make dull trip into a very enjoyabl - e#perience, After all, we all have a little bit of child In us, let's ggp nut 904 bike around the Mockox play cowboys and Indians, The neighbours may think we're insane, but , wouldn't it be fun? We get along well and when something isn't going the way we would like it to be, we try to talk about it openly. This year is the year of communication. 1 think it's the right time to learn the raise your voice and say what you have to say • with diplom Diplomaacy,cy is really important when you want to speak frankly because you don't want to hurt the other person's feelings. A CHANGE That's a big change for me because I never used to speak up. B•ut when you have 11 other people to help you, and if you feel confident, you can probably make it. And. if you're with a group of people where everyone's opinion is respected, you're a lucky person. That's the way 1 feel here. That's why 1 can call all my fellow participants friends. BY CHANTALCHICOINE My most sincere salutations to the Seaforth population. Here 1 am, another Katimavik participant who will talk 'to you about our project. Although it is near the end of this rotation 1 feel like it's been only one month. Time passes so quickly. People in Seaforth have been so kind and friendly with our group and so far Katimavik has been a good experience for me. GROUMy friends'have already said a lot of things but 1 think that something is missing. One of the most ititportant parts of Katimavik is group life. You may say that everything you do in life is with a group. But when you live 24 hours a day with the same 12 people, you have to learn how to deal with each and every personality. You find it hard at first because you're not used to it. But. as days go by you find qualities and new attitudes that you like in each person. You teach them a bit of what you know and in return they teach you a bit of WORKING FOR PLAy—Katlmavlk participants Pat Lehionen, of Kitimat, B.C. and Allan Chase, of Barrie are hoping to finish the Tuckeramith playground near the Van Egmond House in Egmondvllle by the end of the Week.
