Second prize went to Neil Bell and Thelma Coombs. Third pri e'was won by Eric Matzold and Helen Connell. A very successful tourna- ment was held Aug. 24 for the 54th anniversary of the. bowling club. It was a busy day for all members as 144 players were, involved: 'Thelma Dale was in charge of food. Mel Brady made sure everyone was playing in the right position and Sandy Pepper had the greens in perfect condition. All three were complimented by the winners. Players came from Owen Sound, Woodstock, London, Thamesford, Ingersoll, Sar- nia, Mitchell. Clinton, Luck - now. President Fred Tilley and his Wife Betty were the high winners. Tom Phillips and Katie Phillips were fourth prize winners. The other prize winners were from out of town. Eighty four players received prizes do- nated by the members. The watch tournament is Sept. 4 with full entry. Hope the weather keeps co-oper- ating. S.v. Randy McLean took sec- ond driving Sunrise Bingo for Douglas Kerr of Dungannon. while Ross Battin was third with Poplar Lynn for Les Campbell of Seaforth. Londesboro Lady had her first lifetime win in 2.10.2 with Fred Maguire on the bike for owner Robert Hog- garth of Londesboro. Rod Robblee drove Vesta Herbert to a second place finish for Clarence (Jiggs) Le Beau of Brucefield, while Ross Battin took third with his Princes Sister. Jim Watt, of Londesboro won the fourth in 2.11.2 with the eleven -year-old lchabod • Cyain gelding Mr. Super Crain that he co-owns with Tim Robinson. Ross Battin gave Joellas Knight her third win of the year, timed in 2.05.3, for owner -trainer Bill Bennett of Seaforth. Merrywood Liz took a new' 2.03 record at Elmira Race- way on August 15 with Ross Battin up for her new owners Jim Taylor and George Park- er of Hensall. Countess Janet was first in 2.03.1 -°at Elmira Raceway on Friday night with Ross Battin on the bike for owner Ken Parke of Varna. Fred Maguire won with RJ Direct, a pacer raised by Fred (Pete) Fowler near Londesboro, in 2.02.4 the same night. Shadows End Run was third in a 2.05.3 mile at Dresden Raceway with Wayne Dupee of Clinton driving for his father, Bruce, on Saturday night. Trotter G.F. Dillon finish- ed second in a 2.04.1 mile at Dresden on Sunday for part- ners Vic Hargreaves of Brucefield and Barry Miller of Kirkton. Sunday, August 21, Out All Knight won her third in a row and took a new 2.06.1 record with co-owner on William- son on the bike. Bruce Lamont of Seaforth shares ownership in the seven-year-old free -legged Excel Knight pacing mare; who also turned in the fastest mile of the day. Jasmine Killean, co -owned by driver Ron Williamson and Rene Dupuis of Seaforth, and Barry Short of Downs- view, finished third •in the same race.
