It was a week of tearing froth golf course to golf tse 0o , living in the ,car, and praaying for a rainy day when d would all slow flown to a dull roar! Thursday was the begin- ningwith the local ladies playing in the Stratford In- vitational. After all the rain that the festival city had, the course was more like the Florida Everglades than the country club. After the first few holes, between the humidity and the casual water, everyone was sopping wet, and the scores were as high as the humidity! What a way to spend your day offl On Friday the Owen Sound District ,Junior Girls Champ- ionship was on and it was off to Goderich to present prizes to the junior girls especially to Champion Deb Core from the Seaforth Club. Sunday was the long drive Championship which was a great success considering it was our first attempt at this event. Several of our mem- bers participated and it was a fun switch from the usual golf. Hopefully we'll have a better turnout next year. Monday was the big day for me since Dad and I were entered in the Ontario Father and Daughter Championship at York Downs in Toronto. Y was nervous, not about play- ing in the tounament but about playing with Dad. Previous to Monday we had iit th0 geogrito 1 ly tet.c'mBt olm; Dag only played 9 holes together, everl It'sure wasn't your run of the mUl day. We stayed with friends the night, efore who thought they live quite near York Downs. A least we wouldn't have to be up at the crack, to be' there on three. FRANTIC DRIVING Well, York Downs wasn't the golf course they were close to, as we discovered Monday morning at 8 driving frantically through Toronto's traffic. Our tee off time was 8:24 and after leaving a day early we landed on the tee at 8:16 in typical Doig fashion. Fortunately we knew the others in our group which helped dispel some of my nervousness. However this didn't help my game; after the first three holes 1 thought I'd be the only daughter ever put up for adoption on the fourth tee. Eventually I set- tled down and didn't dis- grace the veteran who is even planning to play in the Father and Daughter again next' year! (but I didn't ask him if he meant with me or Gail). From Toronto d was straight home for our own Hully Gully gets funding to improve track standards Bully Gully Sports and Recreation Ltd, of Varna has received "COED" funding to improve motocross track to national standards. 'Closest to the pin went to Gail Price who aced the 105 yd. number 5 hole with her 9 iron. Prizes were also given out for longest drive, least putts and hidden holes. A delicious corn roast was enjoyed after golf. While all this was going on Debbie Core and Jennifer Watt, both junior girls from Seaforth, were just finishing their practice round at Maple City Countfy Club in Chatham. Both girls were entered in the Ontario Junior racking Girls, Championship . d theyy did very well on first outing, They were girls when we picked them' u . on Wednesday night.
