HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Huron Expositor, 1983-08-10, Page 11,THE HURON EXPOSITOR, AUQt8Y 10, 1083 -- All Go ii JY PATRICIARIMMER i I can't believe that summer is almost half over .The other qday I went, shopping and picked up some School sup- plies that were onsale when it hit me. We only have about a month left of, nice weather and lazy days. ' Sure. the Weather Will most likely still be terrific when we head back for school, but we will no longer be allowedto be lazy.'Suddenly it is back to the books we go, and our eleven o'clock Wake-up call is turned back to 7 a.m. Breakfast at 7:30 is now going to have to replace o'u'r brunch pt, 12:00 noon. There are definitely' going to have to be some changes made. It seems funny to,. me `that students workall summer at part-time or full time jobs, save as much money as they can (or no money at all) and spendmostof it on school supplies and new fall clothes. And the worst part of it is that, although you may go to a store and blow S30 on bind- ers, paper, pencil crayons, duo tangs and other such • ?, c T piat titals, ypu atb etill'apt to spend at least another 520 when you go back to school and find out there are' more materials you requite. Spited clothes have eprob- lem too; It seems that every year I go out with the ntention to spend about $70 on school elothes and with that $.70 come home with a decent pair of shoes. The clothes tally up to around $150 if l'in lucky. Then when it is finally time to go to school, it is too warm outside to wear those beautiful new clothes and 1 end up leaving •'my( new wardrobe in the closet and wearing an old summer t -shirt and some , pants on the first day back. It is hard to say just where the summer went. Of course, you may say that it is not quite over yet but when you think of it, there isn't much left. If you ate anything like me, you will have the rest of the summer booked up, whether it is working or going away. It seems like just yesterday that I dumped all of my locker belongings into a green gar - I bags bag. No doubt, they are probably still there! The new school year bongs' new challenges and '',new routines. There will be new teachers at school, new friends, new courses and even new Vachon, in the school cafeteria. The school will get back to the same boring old routine after a- while, but we can look for- ward to it for now. SDHS can look forward to new teachers, a new prineippal and a new vice principal. The school system this year should be different and very interesting. The cafeteria is also going to have some new workers so maybe the food will be that of the finest quality restaurants. It isn't that the food is bad in the cafeteria, no, don't get me wrong, but students have to have something to complain about so it may as well be food. One of the best things about going back to school after a long summer is the good intentions that go with you. I know that when I buy my books for school I always seem organized. Unfort- unately, one month into first semester, 1 lose half of the supplies that I bought to keep organized. My locker is e- nough to make a mother cry and my organization is not my finest quality. Also, when 1 first go to school in Septem- ber 1 always feel like I have a fresh start and can have a good year. I consider that 1 have many new teachers and can start with a clean slate. 1 always intend to do my best and get the highest grades possible. Unfortunately once back to school fora week, the teachers know you and need- less to say, we are all back to our old habits, whether they be bad or good. Well, summer is still here and we can still enjoy it but there are only a few more weeks left. My only wish is that the school year would go as quickly as the summer. Just to make your mood a little bit better, consider this. There are approximately four and a half months left until Christmas! Enjoy your sum- mer!
