Home, Lucknow, celebrated
her 90th birthday on Friday,
July 22nd. The family held a
birthday party at the nursing
home and those attending
were her brother Mr. Joe
Thompson of Goderich, a
cousin Miss Lucy Thompson
of Oakville, Mr. and Mrs. Mel
Craig of Bluevale, Mt. and
Mrs. Tom Armstrong, R.R. 2
Lucknow and Mrs. Jack Tay-
lor of.Belgrave. Mrs. Arm-
strong also received many
lovely cards and letters from
friends and relatives.
Joint service was held in
Knox PtesbyterianChurch on
Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.
with Rev. Kenneth Innes as
minister. In the absence of
Mrs. Hazel Dalrymple, or-
ganist, Mrs. Don Vair played
tor the service.

returned home last Monday'
after a two week vacation
visiting with relatives at Lint -
law, Sask and attended the
Little reunion at the home of
Mr. and Mrs: James Little
and family of Lintlaw. They
also visited with cousins, Mr.
and Mrs. John Little of
Edmonton, Alberta.
Miranda Bieman spent the
holiday weekend with her
grandmother Mrs. Agnes
Bieman.

In the future, the Brussels
fire department Willnotonly
fight fires, but assist in
freeing trapped motorists
who have been 'volved in
accidents.
The department has pur-
chased several pieces of
extrication equipment with
funds raised from ticket sales
and a donation from the
Brussels Lions club. The club
purchased a plastic air -splint
kit which is used. to immobil-
ize fractures prior to a victim
being taken to d hospital.
The equipmeqq°t, valued at
about 5800, includes a two -
ton come -a -long; blocks and
chains; multi-purpose pry
axe with roof and windshield
cutter.
The fire department also
purchased a used, metal and
wood, cutting pewee saw.
Department members
have practised using the
equipment on an old car,
"but I hope we never have to
use it," says Howard Bern-
ard, fire chief.
Seaforth's fire department
has also recently purchased
rescue equipment. Watch

the local 'department.

THAT'S MAGIC -Over 125 Brussels youngsters attended
the second Kids Corner In the United Church. The event,
sponsored by the Brussels Ministerial Assbclatlon, Is the
second in a four part series. Featured was a sing -a -long,
magic show and refreshments. The next Kids Corner will
be held In St. John's Anglican Church on Aug.: 11 at 2:30

of fancy steers on offer.
Heifers sold higher on a good
quality offering. A good sup-
ply of pigs sold actively at
firmer prices. There were 519
cattle and 1404 pigs on offer.
