MENSAL NATIVE DIES
AT NIAGARA FALLS
The death occurred on
Sunday at Greater Niagara
Falls Hospital of Mrs. A.E.
Howe, the former Helen
Elder, daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. John Elder,
Hensall. She was a graduate
of the -London Normal School
and McDonald Institute,
Guelph. Following her mar-
riage to Fred Howe of
Condon they lived in that
area Later they took up

residence in Tuscon, Arizona
and Niagara Falls.

Layer flocks cut
The Ontario Egg Produ-
cers' Marketing Board pas-
sed a regulatiots at their July
meeting stipulating that new
unregulated flocks have been
reduced from 500 to 100
birds.
Producers with 500 birds pr
less in production , prior •to
July's 'ai'e. exempt TN' new
producer who did not have
hens•in production prior to
July 5th, is limited to 100
birds. •
To increase flock size,
producers are allowed to
purchase quota from other
registered producers. Quotas
are transferred though the
Ontario Egg Producers' Mar-
keting Board at 5799 Yonge
Street, Willowdale, Ontario

gets $107,787
Agriculture Minister Eu-
gene Whelan and Ontario
Minister of Natural Re-
sources Alan Pope an-
nounced recently that the
Ausable-Bayfield Conserva-
tion Authority will receive
5107,787 for a job creation
project in the Wingham Dis-
trict.
In making the announce-
ment, on behalf of Employ-
ment and Immigration Mini-
ster Lloyd Axworthy. Mr,
Whelan said. "the project
will provide a total of 241
weeks of work for 15 area
unemployment, insurance
claimants,"
"This job creation project
is scheduled to last for a
period of 20 weeks," Mr.
Pope said. Participants will
remove slash and _logging
debris to facilitate proper
management of water levels
and habitat. The debris will
be piled and then covered
with earth to create waterfowl
nesting islands."
Section 38 of the Unem-
ployment Insurapce Act pro-
vides for the use of UI funds
to support activities that
allow UI claimants to use
their skills while they are
unemployed.
The Canada Employment
and,lmmigration Commission
will pay each worker up of
5240 a week from UI funds.
while money provided by the
Ministry of Natural Re-
sources will also cover admin-
istration and benefit costs.
The two departments will
contribute 557.840 and
549.947 respectively to the
project.
