' 482-7103 BY SUSAN HUNDERTMARK - Close to 50 children have registered for the Playschool and Playground programs run by Seaforth's recreation department. "We're pleased with the response," says recreation director Bryan Peter. Although there is no set registration for the teen program, six to 15 teens participate in each event and the numbers are growing each time. "We'd like to have 50 kids but with this weather so' many of them are using the pool every day or playing ball or working part-time. I think the numbers will grow as the summer continues," says Mr. Peter. Work is in progress at the Seaforth tennis courts. The TewrVWorks: Department has taken down the fences to straighten and re -cement the posts and the courts are being re -paved. A Terry Fox Run will be held Sept. 18. The site of the run hasn't been determined yet although the recreation department recommends using the Van Egnlond house as the start and finish. A fitness trail for Seaforth is in the works. The stations can be obtained free from Fitness Ontario although the town will have to put up and maintain the trail. In his report to council. Mr. Peter recommended that Seaforth request some stations for 1984. "We're going after it now so we'll have it for next year," he says. The site of the trail is tentatively laid out in Ole recreation department's master plan. It would link the community arena park. the agricultural fairgrounds, the culling rink, the highschool. the hospital. the Lions Club Park, and the Seaforth Golf and Country Club via the Silver Creek: "We're still in the process of getting permission to use the land for the trail. Some of it is conservation land. some is public," he says. 16 teams expected on weekend Baseball teams from Exeter, Clinton and Zurich will be coming to Seaforth to compete in the fifth annual Men's Recreational League ,Tournament this weekend. "There'll be a good variety of competition and we usually attract a good crowd." says Doug Bach. The tournament has grown in the past few years from 10 teams to 16 and although the league's executive have talked about expand- ing to 24 teams, it decided to stay at 16 for this year. 111101111101>•tf•tNIItif!tIIIItMIItib1MI1if11911111111■1111111111••11111' • SAVE HUNDREDS SAVE 10 . 75% on new and used on all in stock MOTORCYCLES ACCESSORIES EXAMPLE: 5399 Honda 50's from PRICES WILL NEVER BE LOWER Used Bikes To clear from as little as Hard Saddlebags Complete with chrome rails and hardware, 199.95 installed Hondaline Helmets 1/, Price Large selection of ATC equipment at s`peclal clearance prices 1 Let PHELANS PLACE show you...
