The,Melntoshs settled into their'');'uckersmith home and worked hard to nlake,a profit from farming. Those Were the days when pigs sold for 53 and eggs went for 12 cents a dozen. "They howl about the recession," Mrs. McIntosh noted, "but today the young people don't know what it was like." The secret to their long and happy marriage. Mr. McIn- tosh explained', is simply, "Keep busy and you won't have time to argue." The Mclntoshs were in- deed busy. They raised two children Jim and Mary, Mrs. Lawrence Butt. Her many friends wish her a complete recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chaffe and Sally of Mitchell were recent visitors with Mrs. Chaffe's parents Mr._ and Mrs. Jack Corbett. Mr., and Mrs. William Brown of Seaforth were re- cent visitors with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. HEAR LONDON MINISTER A number of Arnold Circle members who attended when Rev. P.A. Ferguson was minister at Carmel Presbyter- ian Church, Hensall'and lived in the manse with Mrs. Ferguson and family, were guests at Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, London on Sunday morning to hear Rev. Roderick Ferguson, minister there, preach, Rod was a young lad when his parents left here for Montreal. Rev. Rod, Mrs. Ferguson and son are going on holidays this week. Following the service Mrs. Pearl Baynham, formerly of Hensall entertained the guests and Rev. P.A. Fergu- son and Mrs. Ferguson of Chesley were also present. Refreshments were served and thanks extended to Mrs. Baynham for her hospitality. QUEENSWAY NEWS Rev. Stan McDonald con- ducted worship service at the Queensway Nursing Home last week. The top bowler was 11 ; SELDON AND VIOLET ROSS ed 50 years They met at a dance in Brucefield, dated for two years and were married at her home in Colborne Township. That was in the 1930s, and on July 5, 1983 Seldon and Violet Ross of Brucefield celebrated their 50th wed- ding anniversary. An open house was held July 3. Along with friends and neighbors, the Ross's six children, and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren joined in the celebration,- Their child- ren are Marion, Mrs. George Warner of Goderich, Donald of Goderich, Betty Jean, Mrs. Don Lee of Alberta, Carolyn, Mrs. John Greeneway of Bluevale, Dorothy, Mrs. Jim Boughen of Clinton and Jim of Whitechurch. They have lost one son, George. Mr, and -Mrs. Ross follow their children's lives with pride and love. The living - room walls in the Ross horse display each of their wedding photographs, along with pic- tures of their young grand- children. Mrs. Ross admitted that she has some trouble keeping all the birthdays straight, but obviously she doesn't forget. A small' girl approached the anniversary couple and pre- sented them with a note. The girl was their granddaughter and the note was a handwrit- ten thank you message for a recent birthday present. While Mr. Ross has been in poor health in.recent years, the couple enjoy a comfort- able home in Brucefield. It once belonged to Mr. Ross's grandfather.
