Park Pool In Seaforth began Monday morning. The next session starts July 25.
Swim team starts training
BY SUSAN'HUNDERTMARK
The Seaforth swim team, which held its
first meeting on Monday, will be entering a
new league this summer. Instead of
competing in the Huron Zone league, it will
be racing against teams from Mitchell,
Clinton, Goderich, , Kirkton, St. Marys,
Exeter and Huron Park in the Inter -County
Swimming Association.
Although the Seaforth team usually has
difficulty winning against bieeer 'teams,)
"they always go out wad give it their
says one of the coaches, Dave Rimmer.
This summer, the swim team will be
using a different approach when training
for competition: Three of the four coaches
took a course offered by Esso Swim Canada
which teaghes swimmers how to race.
Instead of telling swimmers just to practice
swimming lengths of the pool,. the newly
qualified coaches will be dividing practices
into three areas - strokes, starts, and turns.
"We hope this programill make us
better competitors," says Dive.
Practices will be held every Monday,
Wednesday and Friday at 4:061 p.m. and

the first meet is July 16. Coaches hope for a
team of 20 competitors.
The Seaforth Golf and Country Club held
their 13th annual junior invitational
tournament yesterday with competitors
from Seaforth, St. Marys, Clinton, Bay-
field, London, St. Thomas and as far away
as Bermuda. The boy from Bermuda was
on vacation with his father and visiting
friends in Seaforth. Although there were
approximately 30 entries in the tournament
at press time, organizers were expecting SO
competitors.
We have quite a few young golfers at
this club", says Barb Watt. "We have at
least 40 golfers under 18. We've always
had junior boys but just recently we have
some junior girls; most have parents who
golf but some have learned to golf in
school."
Everyone who entered the tournament
won a prize ranging from tents and radios
to golfing gloves and t -shirts. The cls es
were bantam - 13 and under, juvenile - 14
to 16 and junior - 17 and 18.
