JUNE 15, 1983 Brussels Yost Special events planned at Callander Correspondent JEAN BEWLEY 887-9047 The Majestic WI held their June meeting Wednesday, June 8 when they met for ,dinner at the Brussels Angli- can church. After a short business period, 36 members boarded the Brussels Booster bus for a trip to Goderich. In toderich the WI toured the Huron County Museum and the jail. At the jail, a tour jaide gave the history of the ail and its use. Thanks to convenor,' Wilma Heming- way and bus driver, John Cousins for a good day. MELVILLE ANNIVERSARY The Rev. Vern Tozer, Lis- towel was guest speaker at the 129th anniversary of Melville Presbyterian Church ort Sunday June 12. Approx- imately 150 sat down to a dinner served by the catering group of the centre. Alice McArter, Noble Grand, welcomed the guests. Head table guests were introduced by' Mary Lowe, M.C. for the evening. A memorial service was held in memory of departed Sisters and Brothers, with Sarah Stephenson as soloist accompanied by Mrs. Lyle (Alice) Brothers at the piano. Marguerite Crawford gave a resume of the Lodge from 1933 to 1983. Entertainment was sup- plied by the Lodges of Huron District x23, Mrs. Lyle (Alice) Brothers and Mrs. Mervin (Frieda) Pipe. STONEHOUSE 887.9487 The A.C.W. meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Jack King in Wingham. The president Mrs. Beth Procter led in prayer and the Lord's prayer was said in unison. Cards were signed to send the sick and those celebrating birthdays. Mrs. Procter read the med- itation about the Bible story of the Song of Deborah. Miss Lillian Potter con- ducted the mission study on the Philippines, telling of the work of Sister Augustina, a nun in the Philippine Inde- pendent Church. Eight tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. Hall Wed- nesday June 8. Winners were: high lady - Mrs. Janisa Coultes, novelty lady -Mrs. Agnes Bieman, low lady -Mrs. George Dreh- mann; high man -Clarence Hanna; novelty man -Garner Nicholson, low man -William Black. This will be the final euchre until they resume again in the Fall. Mrs. John McIntosh read a letter from her sister-in-law telling of her work in Haiti. Mrs. Ross Anderson an- nounced the Special Event Day to be held at Camp- Menesetung June 16 for all U.C.W. members starting at 9:30 a.m. CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY A caaacity congregation attended the annual Sunday School Anniversary and bar- becue on Sunday, June 12. The centre front pews were reserved for the teachers and the primary pupils. Each Sunday School attendant wore a corsage. The junior choir entered the sanctuary to the proces- sional hymn, accompanied by the organist, Mrs. George - 'Procter' and pianist Mr . Howard Morton.
