There were stories, a craft, treats ending with the highlight, a bus ride home for those who return to Kindergarten In the fall. The children have been attending story hour at the school thls year. Teens judge livestock "1 PLACE THIS CLA' These words were ttered several hundred times on the Clinton Fairground grand- stand on Saturday, May 28. Eighteen official judges listened to reasons given by a record number of competi- tors at the Huron County Livestock and Field Crops Judging Competition. A total of 185 young people between 12 and 19 judged six classes of livestock and three field crops classes. Top judges at the competi- tion were: Novice -Kelly Vod- den. R.R. 1, Clinton; Junior - (tie) -David Wheeler, R.R. 1, Bluevale and Jeff McGavin, R.R. 4, Walton; Interme- diate -Kevin Smith, R.R. 6, Goderich; Senior -Lisa Thompson, R.R. 5, Wing - ham. Award winners are: Lisa Thompson; R.R. 5, Wing - ham, highest score in the competition; Kelly Vodden, R.R. 1, Clinton, high novice judge; Jeff Feagan, R.R. 4, Godericti, highest score in swine section; Kevin Smith, R.R. 6. A lot of creativity and imagination was used prepar- ing the Sanctuary and pre- senting the theme for Child- ren s Day at Hensall United Church on Sunday morning. The theme "Children are Special" was brought out through scenes in the church; Donald Wareing and Bill Stebbins read the scriptures from Matthew and Mark again expressing Jesus em- phasis on the important place of children. Children are special id' the Horne; at play and at school and in the center was the church with a white cross depicting Christ's presence with the children wherever they are.
