We are sorry to have to chronicle the
death of Mrs, John Leddy, who died
Sunday morning, July 28th, at the age
of fifty-five years and three menthe.
Mrs. Leddy was highly respeoted and
esteemed by all who knew her. She was
of a quiet dispos tion, but posses'sed a
sterling character. She leaves to mourn
her loss her husdand, three sons and four
daughter's. The deceased was a daugh-
ter oe the late Bernard Redmond, and
her aged mother, four sisters and two
brother's survive her. The relatives have
the sympathy .of the community in their
sad bereavement.

Wednesday of last week was a holi-
day in town, as the storekeepers and
other business planes closed up to allow
those who wished to attend the excur-
sion ou the C.P.R. to Guelph, This was
the first excursion over the new road
and 127 people went from this place.
The Voters' List of Blyth for 1907
are now printed and 332 voters are on
the list, and the total number eligible to
serve as jurors is 106.
Mr. C. F. Spafford, of Beaton, has ar-
rived here and has taken the position as
O.P.R, agent. Mr Stafford has purchas-
ed Mr. N. B. Gerry's house and proper.

The corner stone of the new Presby,
terian church will be laid next Tuesday
evening at 6 O'olook, by Mr. Robert
Maxwell, who has for over forty years
been one of the elders of the church,
A special offering will be taken at the
laying of the corner stone. After this
ceremony a garden party will be held
on the lawn of Mr, R. N. Duff, A
good program of music and addresses
will bo given by the Win, ham Citizens'
Band, Binevele Presbyterian Church
Choir, Bluevele Harmonica Bsnd and
the following speakers who are expected
to be present:—Rev. John Barnett, B.
A., Rev. Geo Baker, Arch. Flislop, M,
P,P,, Dr. lklaudonald, ex-M.P., W. H.
Kerr and Jas, Bowman, Tea will be
served from 7 to 9 o'olook, and refresh-
ments will be served on the lawn. This
will afford a very pleasant evening's en•
tertainment and every person will be

Th3 piece of steel was removed at the
Toronto hospital from Mr. John Oliver's
eye and we hope he will soon be as well
as ever. He is still at' Toronto.
Chas. Lamont, 7th con., has raised his
barn and is placing stone stabliug under

news recently of the death of her brother,
Joseph N. Bates, who died at bis home
in Sacramento, California. He leaves a
widow, three sons, and two daughters.
There were four brothers and one sister
in the family, but the brothers are all
dead now,. Or. Bates was a former

ago and was born in the township of
Wolford, Ontario, 61 years ago.

Miss Sarah Beam, of Toronto, is home
for a short vacation. She was accom-
panied by her four year old, neioe, Dora
Turnor.

perty to A. T. Cole for the spm of $2,000.
This will give Mr. Cole a very desirable

Robt. Spline, B. A., who has been
headmaster of the D.iwson High School
for several years, is home on a visit with
his parents, 1st line. Mrs. Smillie and
a bouncing baby bov are also here. Ildr.
Smillie does not purpose returning to
the Yukon but may remain in Ontario,

This is the banner season so far in five
years. Eight men are employed and
4,000 bushels of lime were burnedin the
