The Wingham ba ball boys have been
playing in very bad juck during the past
week. On Wednes ay evening of last
week the Palmerstol team visited Wing -

the ninth innings Ind refused to play
further. The Winelham boys were get-
ting the best of ti e game. The score
was 8 to 7 in favoz1 of Palmerston, but
we understand the 'Umpire James gave
the game to Win loam. Last Friday
evening the iota played with the
Browne at Harriet and lost by a score
of 6 to 2. Lan lea ne game at Teeswater
on Monday event g the locals lost again,
the score being E to 1 in favor of Tees -

Mr, Wm. Button 3 Proposition.
The proposition oI; Mr. Wm. Button
to secure a portion of he town park for
a site for a cartia :e manufacturing
establishment is on which deserves,
and no doubt will eceive, the most
careful and intelligees consideration of
the Town Council. There are many
citizens who are lost to think of the
noise and whirl of actory machinery
taking the place of the now favotite
pleasure spot and pl .ygrounda. Others
again are of the opi ion that business
should come before insure, and wonld
consider that the b et interest of the
town would be fiery d if every foot of
the ground wore oc pied by industrial
ooncerns. It le sai that there are other
convenient and sui able places which
could be enured for ark purposes. All
are agreed, howeeer on the advisabil-
ity of using every enable means to
mettle the 'mettle of the proposed
faotory in Wingha and it is hoped the
matter Will reactive t 0 very best atten-
