4t N®nedia@nd ate®© MEDAL RETURNED—A medal inscribed, 1918 Victory Loan, Essay Competition, Upper School, First prize and on the opposite side: Won by G.G. Ross, Seaforth, Cl.,.was presented to Bruce Shaw, principal of the Seaforth District High School. Owner of the medallion was Grace Gertrude Ross (Shunk), a former teacher at the Red Tavern School, Tuckersmith, and a resident of Mississauga until her death last December. The late Mrs. Shunk, who was 82, began her 30 year teaching career when she was 18. She was a grade 13 student in Seaforth when she received the medal. Her nephew, Bill Ross, left, thought the medal "had something to do with a school -student fundraising project during the first world war." He said the medal was among her memorabilia, "Dad, (Wilfred Ross, Grace's brother, centre) and I felt the medal might be a piece oVmemorabilla the school might like to have. We thought 11 would be home for It," Mr. Shaw said the medal is the oldest piece the school has other than paper records. "We will try to find a suitable location to display it." (Wassink photo!
