Morris ends X82 with surplus
For the second Year in a
row, Morris township has had
a surplus budget.
In the 1982 financial report,
township auditor Karl Lentz
said the township ended the
.year with a $10.244 surplus.
The 1982 surplus was
S20,560.
The excess is due to high
interest rates. said township
,• clerk Nancy Michie. Council
had budgeted S12.000 for
interest on tax and drain
arrears. and interest on the
current account. Instead of
the budgeted figure, the
township collected S19,800.
Morris also received a 52,000
employment incentive pro-
gram grant in 1982 which was
dot budgeted for: Mrs. Mich-
ie said the 1982 interest rate
on overdue accounts was 11/2

A revised apptieation of
severance was approved for
Melvin Jermyn. Council con-
sented to a severance in
'February but it was turned
down by the Huron County
land division committee.
Mr. Jermyn is seeking a
severance for a farm machin-
ery repair business. The
business is farm -related and
conforms to the county offi-
cial plan.
The second application will
be reviewed by the land
division committee.
COUNCIL BRIEFS
Progress of the road allow-
ance, closed by council in
1982, was questioned by Jim
McNeil. The allowance was
included in the original sur-
vey of the township but was
never officially opened. The
lot will be sold by the
township following approval
of the township solicitor.
Representatives of Frank
Cowan Insurance discussed
the 1983 insurance policy.

pit run gravel. The low tender
was for $1.19 per cubic yard
for a total of 541,650. Four

total tender price. 1
Calcium chloride will be
supplied to the township by
Pollard Bros. of Harrow. The
price 'is $17.25 per flake ton.
A 525 grant was approved
for St. John's Ambulance,
Listowel and a $150 grant to
the Brussels Agricultural So-
ciety.
