r. r*' K of C host 18th annual hockey tourney weekend The 18th annual Knights of Columbus hockey;tourna- mefit for the separate. schools in the Council area was held this weekend at the Seaforth and District Community Cen- tres. Eleven teams vied for four trophies, two for Junior and two for Senior champion- ships. The trophies .are do- nated by the Father Stephen Eckert Council and are held by the winning teats for a year. - Winner of the "A" champ- ionship trophy -in the Junior division was Mt. Carmel. The "B" championship trophy went to St. Oolumban. Winner of the "A" champ- ionship trophy in the Senior division was St. James', Seaforth. Dublin and Sea - forth played to a 3-3 tie but Seaforth won on shots on goal. The "B" championship trophy went to St, Boniface, Zurich. Wded has been received here of the death of a well-known native of Seaforth, Mary Haig Davidson, Mrs, Davidson, of Brockville, is survived by her husband, Bruce, a native of Mitchell. She grew up here and attended town schools and her parents operated a grocery store on Main St. A young Stratford hockey player with a Seaforth connection is °laving this year at Yale University. where he's on a four year athletic scholarship. Sean Neely, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Neely, is the grandson of Seaforth native. Pearl Reeves Neely and great-nephew of Jenny Hildebrand of town. "His great-grandfather, George Reeves, was quite a hockey player too," says George Hildebrand, Mrs. Hildebrand's son. Although he was offered hockey scholarships from many US colleges which would have paid the entire cost of his education, Sean Neely picked Yale, where he has to pay 55,000 in American funds himself, because of its academic reputation. The New Haven, Connecticut university pays the other 75 per cent of the bill. Sean is an Ontario Scholar who's enrolled in tan economics course at the Ivy .League school, Greta Kerr of Seaforth returned last week after a week's holiday with her brother in New Hamburg and Toronto. Don Williamson of Seaforth was the winner of the Thursday nighters 50/50 draw at the bowling lanes.
