BY DOROTHY DYK
On the weekend of March
4, 5, the S.D.H.S. Golden
Bears captured the
W.O.S.S.A. 'A' champion-
ship. It's the third year in a
row that th'e team has won the
title.
The first win towards the
final same was 00 Friday
night when the Bears easily
defeated Norwich 73-42. Top
scorers were Dave Murray
with 26 points and Eddy
Nielsen scoring 18 points-'
Early Saturday afternoon,
the Bears met North Middle-
sex on an extremely tense and
close game. At the end of the
first half the Bears, were
behind 14-20. But they
weren't ready to give up.
They pulled themselves up 22
points to finish off the third
quarter with a 36-28 score.
Seaforth came opt the win-
iiiug team with a score of
48-43. Top scorers were Davc
Murray wail 22 points and
Eddy Nielsen with 16.
The final game. the champ
ionship, the Bears were once
again playing their old rivals,
the Mitchell Blue Devils.
Mitchell had played extreme-
ly well this season and had
defeated Seaforth before. If
the Bears were going to
defeat thcnuthis season, this
would be the game to do it.
The final score of the first
quarter brought a sigh of
relief to the Seaforth team
and to their coach - Terry
Johnston, The score was
21.11 for the Bears.
However. Mitchell put up a
fight and out -scored the
Bears by four points in the
second quarter. The score at
half-time was 31-25 for the
Bears. Mitchell was getting
too close. The 'Scaforth tl' int
knew that the% would hav,, to
fight hard in the second half it
