MUSICAL EVENING The UCW of Duff's United Church presented. a musical evening in the auditorium of the church, Sunday evening. March 13. Mrs. Ray Huether and Mrs. Graeme Craig were at the door. ,Ushers were Mrs, Doug Fraser, Mrs. Lavern Godkin, Mrs. Allan McCall and, Mrs. Barry,Hoegy. Rev. Charles A. Swan welcomed everyone. Mrs, Marie McGavin was at the organ. The UCW president. Mrs. Viola Kirkby extended a warm welcome to everyone. The Seaforth Harmony Kings were special guests and sane several numbers with Barry Mahon, the chorus director. Local talent contributed to the program. Mrs. Gloria W itbec sang two solos. ac- companied by Mrs. Elva Wilbce at the piano. Don McDonald sang solos with Mrs. Elva Wilbce assisting as pianist followed by Mrs. Carol Henderson and "1 s. Gloria Wilbce singing a duet. The Seaforth Harmony Kings thrilled the large au- dience again with several of their choruses. Mrs. Helen Craig thanked everyone. During the • program the quartet of Marlen Vincent, Ken Campbell. Bill Campbell and Gordon Miller sang. Clinton visited re- cently with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Deane and Mr, and Mrs. Ron Deane and family of Barrie. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bennett of New Market visited on Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Humphries. Mrs. Catclvn Sullivan and Mark, Waterloo visited a few dayswith Mr. and Mrs. Doug Fraser -and Cheryl. Mr. Alex Gulutzen is home for a few weeks recuperating from a fall at his work in Calgafy. The classes were dealing - with farm units in their reading and environmental studies. McIC'il�op, Tuckersmith parks get grants Several local organizations arc among those who have recently received Wintario grants. A total of 51.39 million in capital grants will go to 47 projects in the South Western region of Ontario, according to Minister of Tourism and Recreation, Rueben C. Baetz. McKillop Township has been awarded 56500 to help pay for the new park recreation building constructed in Winthrop last summer. Volunteer labour from area resi- dents helped improve the site. 1X1@mcillfhond clav© Museum will open one floor The first floor of the Huron County Pioneer Museum will be open this summer while a feasibility study team determines the future of the museum. Huron County council approved repairs to the first floor of the museum and named the study team at its March 3 session. An engineer's report from B.M. Ross and Associates of Goderich indicated materials to repair the main floor of the museum would cost under 5500. The necessary repairs will be done by the museum staff. County council also learned that some of the artifacts located on the second Boor of the museum will be placed in storage in a presently unused building at the Goderich Airport. Museum curator Ray Scotchmer also indicated some artifacts from the second floor will be brought down to the main Boor to continue the museum's education pro- gram. Those named to the feasibility study team include: Warden Grant Stirling, property committee chairman Lionel Wilder, planning c and development committee member Bill, Mickle, Huron County Board of Education chairman Dorothy Wallace, Goderich Tourist Council representative Malcolm Campbell and Huron citizens -Jayne Cardno of Sea - forth, William Bogie of Colborne Township, Paul Neilands of Hensall, Ross Merrill of Bayfield and Tom Jasper of Goderich. Chaplain speaks at church Charles Scott of London, Chaplaincy Director for the London Psychiatric Services. conducted the service in the Hensall United Church. Mr. Marlin Nagtegaal led the choir in a Sunday anthem with Mrs. Nagtegaal at the organ. Rev. ' Scott told the children's story based on the keys .of the scriptures. The message was entitled "God was in Christ". Mrs. Dorothy Brim nell greeted at the door. Lamy Elder. Charles Posta- tor. Dennis' Martin and Bill Fuss ushered. .Humanitarian Committee held a euchre in the Lodge Hall Thursday evening with eight tables playing. Winners were ladies high, Mrs. Bev Hamilton --ladies low Mrs. Ross Richardson, gents high Mr. Joe Carter, gents -low, Jack Upshall. lone hands Mrs. Charles Dalrymple.
