It could be a trend or a fluke, that the social services department •• closed more cases then it opened in February said administrator John MacKinnon. Speaking at county council's March 3 meeting, Mr. MacKinnon said in anotner month he would know if the number of assistance cases is actually going down. In January, the general' assistance case- load was at 304, up considerably from 167 January of 1982. Mr. MacKinnon int:Fee the gap between the number of cases opened and those closed narrowed in January as 96 were opened and 88 cases were closed. This news could mean a better financial position at the end of the year for the social services department. At the end of January, costs had increased 49 per cent over the same time period in 1982. Jannary's expenditures stand at 5106,356 which exceeded the estimated by 512,774. The 1982 cost for the month of January was 571,050. utittcJottrt Not all microwave ovenk are alike!
