Election of officers Correspondent MRS. H. LEONHARDT 345-2419 The first meeting of the Brodhagen 4-H club was held on Monday at the Chamber of Commerce Hall, Brodhagen. The name of the project is "Looking 'Great, Feeling Great." The members re- peated the 4-H *Age, which was followed by the election of officers: President, Bev Rapien; Treasurer. Marilyn Ahrens; Secretary -Colleen Gilbert; Phone Girls, Sherry Bennewies, Carole Terpstra, Press Reporter, Marci Scher- barth. The members of the club took part in the "Grooming Grcctint's" activity which gave them different ideas on grooming products and aids they use. Each girl named a product of their choice and how they were influenced to buy it. Each member filled in the "what made • you choose" quiz individually and then as a group. The girls were told to wear jogging suits or loose clothing for exercises at the next meeting. Twenty- five boys, with their fathers and guests. sat down to supper in Hibbert United Church, Staffa, Sunday eve- ning Bill Mahon. chairman of the group committee. was master of ceremonies for lace evening and introduced the head table guests. Lorne Fell and Roger. Betty Stoneman. Jay Campbell and his two sons. Rev. Kenneth Knight, District Commissioner Larry Ketelaars. Granton. and Rev. Fearn, who said grace. Mr. Mahon thanked the leaders of the groups. Carol • Ann Scott and Linda Pullman for Beavers; Bill and Rhea Cameron for Cubs; and Bruce Wilkinson and Brian Miller for Scouts. During the evening, Lloyd Cameron was recognized forY 20 years of service at the various levels of the Boy Scouts of -Canada organiza- tion. A sponsor's plaque was presented to Cromarty Church by the District Com- missioner. Ernie Fleming on behalf of Dublin Lions Club, 'presented the 1st Cromarty Scouts with a donation. ******* Congratulations from the Cromarty community to Don- ald and Marjorie Johns who celebrated their silver wed- ding anniversary on Saturday evening at the Community Centre. Mitchell. On Sunday morning. 1st Cromarty Cubs. Scouts and Beavers, and Dublin Brown- ies and their leaders paraded to the Hibbert United Church, Matta. The service opened with the singing. of 0 Canada. The Rev. W. Fearn wel- comed the many guests and parents as well as the regular congregation and spoke brief- ly on the motto of each group. He noted the meanings of the colours of the Brownie and Beaver uniforms, and stress- • ed the need to take proper care of our land and water. Each group repeated its Promises and the Beavers sang The Beaver Song. Cubs, Kip Daynard and John Wilk- inson received the offering, follwed by the reading of Luke 2: 41-52 by Cory Stone- man, of the Scout Troon. Gwen Christie was organist for the service which con• eluded with the singing of 0 Canada and Taps. Oddfellows euchre Correspondent MRS. Feb. 24 the McKillop #4, "Globetrot- ters” held their fourth meet- ing at the home of thein leader Mrs. Carol Ryan. The girls prepared three dishes: Minestrone Soup, Apple Pie and Greek Style stuffed vegetables. They were assisted by Mrs. Ther- esa Cronin. After roll call was taken final plans were made for the upcoming party. Each girl will invite a friend and bring a prepared dish. The meeting ended with members and leaders sam- pling the various dishes.
