SDHS to host
basketball tournament
' Basketball enthusiasts will
have an opportunity to view
some fine play this Friday
and Saturday when Seaforth
District High School hosts
the Golden Bear Classic
Basketball Tournament. A
total of eight teams will he
participating in the event
beginning at 6:00 p.m..
Friday evening with South
Huron meeting Glencoe. The
Seaforth Bears will meet
Kincardine at 7:30 p.m.
The action will continue on
Saturday starting at 9:00
Sports policy
In an effort to give fair and complete coverage to all of the many sports'
events in Seaforth and area, the Expositor has developed a new policy. We are
able fo pnnl team photos when a local team wins a provincial championship;
otherwise we encourage action photos of various sports, which appeal t0 the
largest number of readers. Weask tournament and game organizers to keep this
in mind when requesting photo coverage.
Game schedules cannot be printed in their entirety but games can be listed a
'week or more in advance in the tree of charge "What's Happening?" column by
calling the recreation department at 527-0882.
Deadline for sports stories, which are welcome and are provided each week by
a number of dedicated volunteers, is still Tuesday noon.

championship
Hundreds of broomball fans kept
the new community centre busy all
weekend long, councillor Irwin John-
ston reported at council Tues. night.
Competition was keen for the 5500
first prize in the tournament.
Men's A winner was the Dumpers,
followed by Chlselhurst. Elora Jr.
Farmers werwthe B camps, followed
by Palmerston. Chl lhurst won the
women's A championship and 5300
with Parr Line second. The Queens
team won the women's 8, followed by
the Perth Misfits.
With games scheduled until early
Saturday morning. all day Saturday
and Sunday, and a dance attended by
800 on Saturday night, gross revenue
for the arena was 52,400.

Feb. 5 the Leos travelled to
Arthur to play volleyball against
teams from Tiverton, Blyth, Dublin,
Brussels, Seaforth, Neusladl, Rock-
wood and Arthur. Londesboro played
Rockwood and came out victorious
Yfwith a score of 21-4. Neustadt next fell
ey al the handsel Londesboro 21-5.
Seaforth tried bravely to defeat the
Leos but was stopped by the high
flyers of Londesboro 21-7. Unfor-
tunately time ran out in the fourth
game and Blyth won 18-11.
In the champion match against
Olympic team from Dublin known as
Paratchek's Blue Machines, Londes-
bore won.
The team includes coach Scott
Millar, asst. coach Dave Overboe, and
first line squad of John E. Lawson,
Ron Nesbitt, Cheryl Bromley, Russell
Nesbitt, Donnie Allen, Scott Millar,
and spares Bob Steam Jamieson,
Laurel Dulzer, Brenda Nesbitt, Sandy
Carter, Ron Mason and Scott Over
boa, Faithful supporters were Helen
Kolkman, Robert Adams, Theresa
Overboe and Penny Overboe.

GRANT M. DENNIS
Grant M. Dennis died
suddenly at his home in
Toronto on Friday, Feb. 4.
19S3.,He was in his 51st year.
He was born in McKillop, the
son f the late Mr. and Mrs.
PPr Dennis.
Mr. Dennis, who was an
investigator with Outer -
bridge, Barristers and Solici-
tors, is survived by his wife,
Joanne and his son Paul. Five
sisters and two brothers also
survive. They are Elsie, Mrs.
S. McSpadden of Otterville;
Flo. Mrs. G. Wood of
Mitchell; Grace, Mrs. K.
Wilbee of Ethel; Helert, Mrs.
A. Simms of Sault Ste. Marie;
Muth, Mrs. W. Rowe of
Toronto and Murray A. and
Don S. Dennis both of McKil-
lop. His father-in-law Edwin
Jordan also survives.
Funeral services were held
on Monday from the Trull
Funeral Home, 2704 Yonge
St., Toronto, followed by
cremation. Memorial
donations may be made to the
charity of your choice.
