Charles Hay was named chairman and a steering committee has been selected. They are secretary -Mrs. Doug Cook; treasurer -Mrs. Harold Knight; finance -Jim Robinson, promotion -Mrs. Ron Mock; registration -Ross Sararas; invitations -Mrs. Jim Hyde; advertising -Mrs. Jim Robinson; press secretarv- Mrs. Robert Raeburn. Volunteers will be needed. This is -a community effort. Think twice before saying "No" to an opportunity to be involved in the 100th birthday' party. Hensall's motto is 'Living and Working Together". ANNUAL MEETING Rev. Kenneth Knight was chairman for the annual con• gregational meeting in Car- mel Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Robert Taylor was secretary. Rev. Knight conducted worship at Carmel Church on Sunday. Mrs. Joan Keys presided at the piano. The Hensall Pee-Wees won a decisive victory over Elma- Logan allowing them to main- tain second place and com- plete the regular season with a 10-4-1 record, The boys began a playoff set with Blyth on Monday, the second will be Wednesday. In the victory over Elma- Logan. Hensall opened the scoring with a goal by Rdb Taylor, followed by one b'y Brian Moir. Elma-Logan then scored one goal from Greg Buchanan, Jason Imanse con- tinued the scoring and hit the net with a shot that proved to be the winner at 8:39 of the second. He IWO three more goals to b ensall's top scorer. Brian Moir led ano- ther goal, with one each going to Rob Volland and Scott Bell. The other Elma-Logan goal was scored by Allan Thomp- son. The final score was 9-2. Come and cheer the boys on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. Mrs. Ernie Davis who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter was able to return to her home on Satur- day. There was an exceptionally large attendance at the Annual Congregational meet- ing at the United Church Wednesday. Joyce Pepper and Belva Fuss led in a sing song and Joyce Pepper and Grace Drummond led the program. Films were enjoyed by the children under the direction of Donald Wareing. Mr. McDonald was chairman for the meeting and Sharon Wurm was chosen congrega- tional secretary. Walter Spencer was chosen the United Church representa- tive on the Village Centennial Committee, The Official Board were given permission to form a Centennial Commit- tee for the congregation. The reports for 1982 showed that all was very much alive at the church with marked increases in activities as well as contri- butions. Pat Cook and John Row- cliffe were elected to the Board for one year term; Donna St. John for a two year term and Bill Bailey, Ted Roberts, Cindy Taylor, Shelly Parsons, Paul Alexander and Ray Jacobe and Kay Mock for a three year term. Sharon Wurm was re-elected as Recording Steward and Cecil Pepper, Treasurer and ,Rita School as envelope Steward were also elected for another term. Elva Forrest was elect- ed to the Advisery-Personnel Committee and Grace Drum- mond was re-elected to the Advisory -Personnel Commit- tee and Grace Drummond was re-elected as Presbytery Delegate. Alf Ross and George Park- er on behalf of the congrega- tion presented Mr. McDonald with a gift in appreciation of his work and dedication. Mr. McDonald replied stating his appreciation for the fine co- operation and service during the year, Varna pairs see Acapulco earthquakes Correspondent MARY CHESSELL 482-9969 Bill and Joyce Dowson and Allan and Marjorie Hayter have returned from a two- week vacation in sunny Aca- pulco. They experienced two earthquakes. The men tried deep-sea fishing, and found themselves stranded on the ocean for quite some time while repairs were made to the boat's motor. Bill hooked a sailfish, but it cut the line and got away. They had a very smooth flight home nn a jumbo jet. , BiII • and Mary Chessell spent parts of Thursday and Friday with Bob and Gwynne Roberts and children in Sim- coe. They moved from Varna . to Minaki, north of Kenora. three and a halt years ago, then to Simcoe last fall. They live in a new subdivision with a good neighbourhood play- ground which includes an artificial toboggan hill and tennis courts. The sympathy of the community is extended to Carol and Bill Stephenson in the sudden passing of her father.
