. The Seaforth Beavers won
the "A" division champion-
ship in the Al Reid Memorial
Tournament in Niagara Falls
last weekend in which 48
teams- participated in six
divisions of play. The Beavers
played five games in less than
48 hours, winning four and
tying one.
In -the first game Seaforth
defeated Agincourt 6 to 2.
Scoring for Seaforth were
Geo. Coveney, Paul Rau, Ed
Dolmage, Jack McLlwain,
Don Vipond and Bob Beutten-
miller, each with one goal.
In the second game Sea -
forth and Elmira played to a
two all draw. The game was
close checking with Ken Doig
and Bob Beuttenmiller scor-
ing for Seaforth.
In the third game Seaforth
defeated Ajax 5-2. Doug
Galloway paced the Beavers
with three goals. Bob Cheor-
os and .Bob Beuttenmiller
each had singles.
In the semi-finals Seaforth
again played Ajax and had to
come from behind to win a
close checking and haft'

best and kept the Beavers in
the game until they scored

Seaforth played their old
rivals in intermediate "B"
hockey, the Elmira Polar
Kings, in the "A" finals. Gar
Baker proved again his worth
to the Beavers as he held the
Polar Kings to only one goal.
Seaforthtook the lead on a
early goal by Paul Rau.
Elmira tied the score at one
but Seaforth then took control
with Jack McLlwayn giving
Seaforth a 2-1 lead after two
periods. Seaforth got two
third period goals from Doug
Galloway to win the '"A'
division championship 4 to 1.
At the end of the game
Seaforth received a large
trophy and a plaque to take
home. Each player received
engraved mugs. Don Morton
of the Beavers received the
award for best defenceman
and Don Vipond of the
Beavers received the award
for top player in the champ-
iott3hip game. A good time
was had by all the Beavers.,

Seaforth Atoms partici-
pated in the Optimist Tour-
nament over the weekend.,
The Atoms won their first
game over Lucan 4-3. Brent
vanden Akker and Paul
McLlwain scored 2 goals
apiece. Each picking up one
assist were Ray Murray,
Jason Papple, 'Jason Mc-
Nichol and Paul McLiwain.
In the 2nd game Seaforth
lost to Paris 3s-2. Seaforth
gave q their best but just
couldn't tie it up. Jason
Papple scored Seaforth's first
goal assisted by P. McLlwain
and J. Schoonderwoerd,
Jason Schoonderwoerd
scored the 2nd goal with only
1:32 left in the third period.
Paul McLlwain assisted.
Paris went on to win the
"B" championship.
Bantams over -power
Clinton .by 4-0 score
Jan. 18 Clinton Bantams
played in Seaforth. Both
teams skated hard but Sea -
forth over -powered Clinton
4-0. Mike Betties opened the
scoring for Seaforth on a pass
from Pat Murray and Ron
Pryce.
In the second period Ron
Pryce scored assisted by Pat
Murray and Mike Betties.
O.H.A. Junior `D'
Hockey
Within five minutes, Scott
Driscoll scored on a nice pass
from Chris Cardno and 'Tre-
vor Price.
In the third period Mike
Betties scored his second goal
of the game, assisted by Mark
Stapleton and Pat Murray.
This was another shut -out
game for goalie Raymond
Anstett and Steve Stapleton.
Centenaires took 18 of 30
minutes in penalties called by
referee Lee Richards.

The Tavistock Braves
clinched first place in the
O.H.A. Western Jr. "D"
group two northern division
on Saturday night with a 7-3
home ice victory over the
fourth place Centenaires.
The Braves scored four
straight goals within a ten
minute span in the second
period to preserve the vic-
tory.
On the other hand the
Centenaires played reason-
ably good hockey considering
they were short several key
players due to injuries and
other various reasons. Dan

ford Trojans on home ice
Friday night.
Veteran Dan McClure kick-
ed out 33 of the 35 shots he
faced while Trojan goalie

difficulty as he was beaten 4
times on only 17 shots.

outshot the Centenaires 10-5

play effort. The Centenaires
took a 2-1 lead as Dave
McLlwain took a perfectt pass
from brother Mark and rifled
a high drive past Brown. The
Trojans kept the pressure on
